Nibbling ears?

It seems like he is actually licking and slightly nibbling his ear. Is there a reason why this may be happening? I also think it may be dominance with the nibbling. Thank you!

Hi, my sister has informed me that cookie has been nibbling walnut’s ears. What is this a sign of? Thank you :)
Hi

Licking or nibbling ears without damage is the mildest form of friendly dominance. It translates as 'I want you to be part of the group I am leading'.

If the nibbling is actually crossing the line into biting/tugging or ripping into the ear and taking chunks out, then you need to review the bond and check whether the cage/hutch is too small and whether the bond has veered into bullying.

Gentle ear nibbling is a sort of mild dominance or power play grooming. It’s quite sweet to watch. Ear nipping/tugging/biting however is much less friendly!
