Noises and weight loss

I buy sliced spring greens from Tesco regularly 😅 can't get the bags like you've got though, not for months.

I scatter and sprinkle feed too. The girls have worked out that if one pig is standing still that means they have food, and if they have food, then it's not fair and they should steal it. They're all thieves in this house!
I think your piggies are friends with our new girls, never seen so much stealing 🤣 there were sliced ones right next to the big ones, was over double the price, cheeky Tesco I'll cut it myself for that price 😆

I'd rather the big ones when they're available, lol. 🤞🏻it'll be soon enough.

I find the theft hilarious if I'm honest. It's usually Mourne who loses his food. He'll put it down so he can chew and Tolka will saunter in, grab it and saunter off again. No sudden movements to give her away. And he'll go back to chew and be absolutely baffled, his treasured food has vanished into thin air! Into thin air and into Tolka's mouth 5' to your left, mate, aye.

Hopefully they come into stock soon for you, I can't grumble about going to tesco now, ours apparently has the magical veg 🙂 awww Mourne, Wren had her food taken right out of her mouth by her mum Raven today, she understands the feeling of precious food suddenly disappearing! It's been an emotional day but coming home to piggie antics really does help, theres nothing quite like it

I just received this message, its so lovely but it hit like a truck. My baby is closer to coming back to me 😢

BIG HUGS

This is really lovely to give you the opprtunity to follow Ozzy with your throught and sending him your love but of course it brings all fully home again.

Between all the excitement of Bruno meeting and settling down with two ladies (I hope that things have calmed down a lot now) and Ozzy crossing the Bridge it is not easy to keep your balance and your middle because the emotions are all strong but so very disparate. Like being stuck between a hot and an ice cold shower you can't turn off.

You hit the nail on the head with the emotions, everything is so strong. My partner asked what specifically about it had set me off crying so hard, I thought it felt real before, it feels so real, so incredibly, painfully real. They have sent another lovely message but I can't quite determine if it means he has arrived at the bridge. Things have calmed down a lot between Bruno and the girls, a lot of zooming and popcorning today. Raven is still sometimes jumping at him but smaller jumps and much less frequent, shes rumbling back at him which really does look funny. I was reading about sows in season and I'm wondering if all of this could have made her go into season?

Avoca's a rumbler. They were side by side while Mourne waited out his post-neuter period, but only ever started rumblestrutting after the bonding. Nowhere near as loud as Mourne, but she does it fairly often now. In her case, I'm pretty sure it's just a learned behaviour, he's also taught Shannon how to make a bed in the hay. Kinda wish he wouldn't because it's not the softest of hays but meh, I won't argue with comfort.

I only really know when one of them's in season when Mourne starts trying to hump their heads again 🙄

Hi

Yes, Ozzy has now made his journey across the Bridge and has reached the other side. They are lovely texts. :tu:

The moment when it finally fully hits you that the loss is real and reality is one of the worst moments; it often takes a few days to fully sink in.

You are still very much running on adrenaline so everything is heightened. Just brace for when the adrenaline finally runs out and you get the hangover blues. You may find that a physical activity can help with working your strong feelings and the chemical build up in the body out.

Think about a constructive activity you can do then - making a photo folder of the best of Ozzy and perhaps choosing a picture you can hang above the cage so Ozzy can still watch over Bruno and his new mates and be with you all?
Any stronger physical activity that triggers your endorphines and dopamines can also help with this, from walking/jogging, dancing, gardening to some vigorous house cleaning etc. can help. I find that going outside on as many days as possible helps helps me with both my body and my mental wellbeing once the happiness hormones kick in.

PS: It sounds like a very happy bonding indeed. No, Raven is not in season; that is just dominance rumbling. Just a polite but very clear reminder for Bruno as to who is in charge now, as is any nipping. They are still very much in group establishment stage when dominance is a bit more pronounced. A strong season is something else. ;)

I fell asleep not too long after posting, I think knowing he's made the safe journey gave me peace of mind, the best I've slept since Thursday. Hoping we get him home soon 💖 it is a lovely idea to put his photos around the cage, thats something I will be doing once I finish work for the week. Their new hay has arrived, Sue recommended nature's own. Got them a bunch of different hays and they're very pleased 🙂 Bruno and Raven are settling down, just seen him give her a friendly hump and previously she would have gone mad at him, she just looked at him and carried on 😄 thank you for the link to seasons, I'll have a read shortly

I am glad that you have been able to relax enough to sleep now that you know that Ozzy is fully at the Bridge and that Bruno is settling down well with his new ladies.

My piggies are also on Nature's Own hay and have been for several years.

But glad that Raven is realising that it is just Bruno's over-excitement and happiness but that he is slowly settling down.

Had the message that we can bring him home tonight, I think the closure will help a lot that he will be back with us. I feel bad for chuckling but our new girls look very funny on the piggie cam when its in night mode, their eyes are like bright headlights 😊 I'm glad yours like nature's own as well, was immediately impressed with it, smells so fresh and its lovely long strands. Bruno is still doing silly boy things but I expect nothing less, Raven was laying in the entrance of our wooden castle thingy and he went and stuck his head in, immediately got told off. Will attach a picture of Raven on the night cam 😀

The hay quality can vary a bit depending on the weather and harvest cycle; it is a natural product after all and climate change is not helping with its weather extremes.
But overall, it is pretty consistent and never has a sour smell.

The photos arrived today so his little resting place will feel like his, also received a lovely card and paw print from the vet. Lovely gesture from them
