I have been monitoring him over the weekend and he just not eating as much as he was, he is interested in the food and everything but leaves it after a couple of minutes. He is however still stuffing his face with hay and pellets so its not all bad.

Anyway, he has lost a little bit of weight over the last two weeks and i can tell by looking that he has so we are off to the vets tonight.

I dont know if i am being paranoid but the sack thing under his chin seems to be getting bigger.

Hope my baby is ok...:{ hes only two, i wonder if i am ever going to have an old age piggy! :...

Oh no I hope the little man is fine in the end.

I found my lost weight and put it down to them being "bored" (or fussy) with their food, so although they stuffed their faces they weren't eating as much as they usually did.

I started to mix in some chudleys rabbit royale in with their burgess pellets and viola they all went back to being chubby little things that you just want to schmoosh x)

lol thanks, he has eaten like a king this weekend but he just loses interest too fast.

i could be over reacting, but you just never know.

Oh bless him, does the sack feel hard or squidgy atall?

How much weight has he lost? Sorry to hear this honey, poor little boy, i hope he will be ok.

Sending healing vibes his way.

The good thing is, he is eating hay and dry food, atleast his teeth wont overgrow as a result of not eating meaning double problems.

Big hugs xxxxx

The sack is dead squidgy.

He has lost about 80-100g since April, which i know is a long period, but i missed weighing him all this time so have been monitoring it daily from the beginning of July. From the beg of July he has gone from 1185 to 1160.

Thats not a huge loss in that space of time hon, (the 1185 -1160 from beg july) the difference between a full and empty bladder can be 30g, but you know Oscar and if you think something is wrong, your doing the right thing taking him to the vets.

Hopefully the squidgyness is nothing honey. Keep us posted. Lots of love and piggy kisses to Oscar xx

Is he drinking? Hope he recovers soon! Sending healing vibes!

Hope everything goes ok with your little one. Maybe best to get him checked over if you are concerned to put your mind at rest.

Lots of love to Oscar and you
x

no he isnt drinking but he never does. I know its not a huge loss. The main concern is how quick he loses interest in his veggies.

I definately feel safer taking him, i lost one already to underlying heart problems and they mentioned this sack to me then, so I'm paranoid really.

eek

I think you are doing the right thing by taking Oscar for a check up. It is a worry him not being interested in vegetables as usually piggies go crazy for them. I really hope everything is okay. Good luck.

Hope it all goes well at the vets x

Just got back. She thinks his heart sounds fine. She said she could see some build up of food in his mouth and tried to get a look in it and flushed it out but he ead a little and wouldn't let her.

She wants me to book him in so they can have a look under g/a :-(

Oh little monkey. He must have really stopped her from looking. Does she think stuck food is causing him not to eat?

I think shes thinking hes dental but I'm not convinced. Ok hes losing interest in food but hes eating hay, wouldn't he struggle with that if dental?

I am not sure. Sorry I have no experience with dental piggies. When is he going in for the anastetic?

Thanks ladies.

I havent booked him in yet, i said i would wait until the end of the week and keep monitoring his weight and food intake.

When Lily was dental he would not touch hay or dry food, he would only have the odd bit of veg..... Fingers crossed he picks up x

My piggie who has dental problems at the moment only eats certain foods like soggy nuggets or wide vegetable(leaves) and grass but won't have hay, water, nuggets or some veggies.

so , who can give me the answer, how do i get my boy better?

He is currently tackling the hay rack with complete eagerness rolleyes

Do you limit the nuggets you give him? I would suggest not doing so now, just letting him east whatever he will eat to keep his weight up, have you tried him on his fav veggies? Or new and different things? these might interest him xx

no i dont limit then love.

I have tried different veggies, and he is eating some, but hes losing interest too quick, except for the melon, he loves the melon!

Hmm I don't think he would be able to eat hay if he had bad teeth.

He could have an ulcer or something maybe causing discomfort, where do you live? If you could find a vet that could look at the whole mouth without ga that'd be ideal.

Try him on some new veg, something different or really special?

When my little man got poorly?& his teeth grew he literally stopped eating full stop. He certainly didn't touch hay or anything tough. X
