Often when they mention GA it is just a whiff of gas....... just ask them love so you're reassured XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Oscar ate quite a lot yesterday, i was really expecting a great weight this morning but he was 1145, and yesterday before his tea he was 1135 so i dont know if that is great or not. yesterday morning he was 1170 but i cant remember if before or after tea.

So, i have had an offer from a lovely lady who is going to see Simon at the beginning of August and she said she will take Oscar for me so that is great.

For all you experienced people out there, if it isnt dental, what other things could it be please?

I posted two vids on facebook yesterday and as far as i know, most that have watched it dont think it looks dental, i know you cant tell but he is eating really well and doesnt appear to be struggling at all. I just wondered if there is anything else i can be looking for in the meantime.

Thank yous in advance, i really do appreciate all the help i have received so far.

xx

Here i meant breakfast not tea

Glad he's put a bit of weight on this morning Karina - I know you think it's not much but it's not a loss.
Weight loss can be a number of things - dental, worms, fungal, bladder probs, infection - it's so hard to say & I don't want to worry you because it could just be something & nothing. I would be inclined to maybe get a urine sample done & see where you are at with that xx

thanks hon, thats helpful. Would i just be able to make an appointment just to have his urine checked? is that normal practice

I work in a nursing home, is it worth using one of our urine tester sticks or is it different for animooooools

The vet can do it but you would need to take a sample. If you have urine test sticks at work that would be fine - the ones I use are the siemens multistix GP. They record Glucose, Ketone, SG, Blood, ph, protein, nitrite & Leucocytes - they are human ones.
The best way to get a sample is to feed him watery veg like cucumber then sit him in a clean plastic tub (an empty carrier would do). When he wees collect it in a 1ml syringe & then drop onto each of the squares on the test stick. Everything should be negative, SG should be mid scale & ph should be high. Just text me if you need help hun xx

i will get a few from work and try them, at least it might give me something to work on.

Thanks again babe!

cant wait to catch wee in a plassy bag! Actually if i just sit him on my leather settee he will do it, he always does!

lol - that would make it easier for you then - my trick with chewy is to give him his syringe feed then put him back in the cage & hold a little pot lid under him - wees every time in it :))

Good luck, hope he wees for you, a few of mine are experts at holding it regardless of how much fluid they have had.

This is the boy that was sat in my lap at the weekend at peed right through my own 'wee' area and wet all my knickers...trust me he will pee!

:(|)

this morning 1145g, tonight 1120g and hasnt eaten much of his tea yet, however, he has eaten heaps of pee infested newspaper...what??

Couldnt get the dip sticks today so i will hopefully get them tomos or maybe just buy a tub from the pharmacy, i went to three chemists tonight and none of them sold them, and when i said why i wanted them they looked at me like i was daft!

I usually end up buying mine online. Just search multistix.

Karina, I know you are worrying but it's best just to weigh him once a day at the same time each day - their weight does fluctuate throughout the day hun, see what he is tomo morning again x

oh really? i thought i was best doing it twice each day. Okey dokey, thanks hon, it does tend ot get confusing all this working out what was when etc

I know some people weigh more regularly when syringe feeding to check the feeding is adequate but in Oscar's case, I think it would be more reliable to do once a day at the same time each day xx

I'm so sorry about Oscar. It must be very frustrating for you. One can't begin to sort the problem out until one finds out what the problem actually is.

I hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

1150 this morning :) left him with a massive stack of timothy hay when i went to bed, it was all gone this morning.

The sticks came today but I have been out all day, it is my mission for tonight!

Hope you are feeling better x
