Pebble is off to the vets

It can be really hard to get them to eat hay again after they have been ill. I can imagine a problem with teeth would be worse although I wouldn't leave it much longer before checking back with the vet, I wonder if they have missed or a spur a little bit that is rubbing the cheek.
It's been really hard getting Timmy to eat hay again after whatever (still not sure exactly what) went on before Christmas. We have 5 different hays which I am mixing up for him, Ings seems to be popular along with soft Timothy. I sprinkle dried forage into the hay which does create extra interest. Timmy is holding his much lower than normal weight, Freddie has gained 100gms which he really didn't need!

Go Freddie. Patrick has gained at least 50g whilst he’s been stealing from Pebble.

Vet just called. As he is already on the higher limit of his pain meds she is going to prescribe paracetamol to go alongside it. I will collect it tomorrow morning first thing.

After 4 days if there is still no improvement then he is to go back in to check for maybe arthritis in his jaw or some other reason for him to not be improving.

🤞🏻🤞🏻

My vet recommended using baby paracetamol to save money. The boys love it too!
Rumbles to Pebble ❤️

Not a great day.

20g loss overnight again. He’s getting so hard to feed.

Today I gave in and mashed banana into his feed. He loved it but I’m not sure how much critical care he ate. I’ve given him grass which he went mad for. I was so happy. I really thought this was going to be the turning point.

But this evening he’s got soft poops. So now I’ve stopped the banana and grass and just trying to get as much of the critical care in him that I can.

I’ve not had a good day. It feels such a heavy weight on my shoulders to make him better. I know I’m doing as much as I can but it’s not enough.

Sending you a big virtual hug. 🥰

And sending lots of positive thoughts your way for you and Pebble.

How is Pebble doing today?
Not great. I’ve given him too much banana and grass and now he has soft poops.

So my next plan is to stop banana, veggies and grass and just concentrate on the critical care. I was so happy he was eating I didn’t care what it was but it’s obviously upset his tummy. 😢

Hope Stan’s still ok. ❤️

Sending you big hugs. It really is difficult when piggies are hard to feed. Lots of love to you and Pebble, really hope things pick up for the both of you 💗

Just caught up with this, sending so many healing wheeks to Pebble ❤️ what an absolute nightmare for you. You’re doing a wonderful job taking care of him

I’d continue to give a little grass, especially as he’s not eating hay. Grass is just as good for wearing the teeth as hay is! If you just syringe feed critical care the teeth will become overgrown again very quickly xx
Thanks Debbie. I was so happy he was eating grass but may have over done it. I’ll give him some after every feed. Hope you are well. ❤️
