Pigging Out

Is he doing ok? 💙
He seems to be doing okay. Not really much changes with his attitude. His weight today was 1348g, a bit lower than yesterday but nothing to worry about. He is eating a lot of hay and grass, not much cucumber though . He's probably not thirsty. He eats his pellets and some pea flakes. Oh and he still tips over his boxes, so he is still normal. 😊

He just had some cuddles and chat from me for 10mins, which annoyed him. 😂 Carson was the one who tolerated cuddles more than Bodie that's why I don't pick Bodie up as often as Carson. Carson just didn't like the idea of me picking him up, hence he usually would run away and hide from me. But as soon as I had him on my lap/chest, he loved getting pets and chin & cheek rubs. He would let me pet him for more than 10mins. Bodie would only tolerate the chin rubs during weighing time. 😂

It's been a week since we lost Carson. 😭💔 We are definitely feeling his absence as the house is quiet now, no more loud wheeks for food. 🥺

But Bodie is doing very well. He seems happy/content coz he's having some peace. Carson is not there anymore to annoy him I guess, coz he did annoy him at times in the past, especially during feeding times when Carson kept on sniffing whatever he eats and tried stealing it from him.

Just an update about our issue with the boarding..

After hubby sent a FB message and email to her that Carson passed away, she blocked us both in Facebook. We can still see her page by using our other accounts we used for business, so she definitely blocked us both. She hasn't tried to talk to us at all even though hubby offered her a way to settle the issue privately. She didn't even apologise.

So now, hubby has sent letters reporting the incident to RSPCA (where we adopted Carson from 2 years ago), the council's licensing department (although we already got a reply from them saying that since license isn't required for small animals boarding in Wales, they can't do anything and redirected us to trading standards), and trading standards (they already replied about investigation and given us a reference number). We also sent a claim from Exotic Direct for cost of everything since Carson is insured. Hubby talked to them informing of the incident and if our claim was succesful then they may seek to recover the cost from the boarding. We are also just waiting for the full report from the vets so we can take it to small claims court.

I'm sorry the boarder simply blocked you instead of being open to talk to you. Not good business practice at all.

Good on your H for getting all those letters out.
She probably blocked us thinking we'll badmouth her in her FB page and social media. Well, we haven't planned to do that. We are doing it the legal way. And she knows she doesn't have a leg to stand on because we have the document that she clearly fabricated and she knows it.

Glad you are dealing with this poor care by the boarder.
Once it’s settled I would be inclined to post a review where other people might see it.
When we moved here and were looking for boarders I checked the reviews, not just on the boarders’ websites.
I can’t remember how , but there are other places to leave reviews.

Hope all goes well for you

We found a friend for Bodie! 🤗 While he is doing brilliant alone for the time being, hubby decided this morning to get him a friend as we can't leave him on his own and we don't want to let go of him. But he said that when Bodie's time has come, then we definitely have to adopt out the other piggy even if we don't want to as we don't want to be on a continuous cycle, especially with hubby's health being very unpredictable now.

So he inquired from RSPCA Milton Keynes about this 4 month old boy and soon enough, he got a message from someone we already know from Northampton that is currently fostering him. She runs a rescue and is also helping RSPCA at the same time. So we might pick him up next week and see Debbie as well (if she's available) coz we haven't seen her for 2 years I think. 😊
