2 weeks ago I bought this guniea pig today as I was giving her food I noticed this patch. I'm sure it's ringworm and I don't know what to do, I can't go to the vets tomorrow and no chats are open right now. Please help what should I do? I washed my hands and my wrists to make sure I don't get it. I'm very upset about this.

It definitely looks like a cut/bite has happened not to say that it isn't ringworm as discomfort may cause your piggy to scratch herself. There could be a number of causes for a patch like this so you do need a vet asap to diagnose what you are dealing with. It is not ideal but if you have to wait 24/48 hours before you can see a vet than that's what you need to do but as very soon as is possible please as your piggy does look like she will be in discomfort. Please closely monitor your piggies (all that you have) until you are able to get to the vets, keep an eye on their food intake, poops and wee's and also their weight. Any sudden changes then you need to get to a vet immediately

Thank you all for your advice, it definitely could be a cut. She was separated from other piggies and she has been alone for a couple of weeks so I don't think it was a cut from any other piggies. She might of scratched herself because I don't see any patches around her face and eyes. Thank you so much for the help I cannot thank you all enough!

it's not a dissimilar distance from her neck as the bite wounds on my piggies (two of them had bites) when I had a lice outbreak. Basically they did it to themselves and it was just far enough down their backs that they could reach themselves. Mites are not visible to the naked eye but lice are... however they are yellowy/white very diddy things and will not be easy to see in white hair at all (when I saw them it was on my black haired piggy). Both mites and lice irritate the skin and cause itching so bald patches and flaky skin can be common. It is easily treated but as said earlier you need a firm diagnosis of what to treat before you try anything as you wouldn't want to make the condition worse

my pig once had a very similar wound which i initially thought was a bite or cut..... then i saw more patches and it was ringworm.... the vet will confirm then suggest the correct treatment x
