Popped cyst or abscess

hi everyone!
i’m baby sitting my friends guinea pig while he’s out of town, my little baby lenny. and he had a really large ball under his neck. i was pretty sure it was a cyst but wasn’t 100% a couple days ago a it popped and now it looks like this. i’ve been cleaning it with salt water but was wondering what else i should be doing? i told my friend to take him to a vet when he gets home most likely but i’m curious as what to do in the mean time. he also i think is chewing and licking it?

Can you not take piggy to the vet before your friend gets back? If he is chewing and licking at it, that can suggest hit may be hurting him so painkillers and antibiotics may be needed

my friend gets back relatively soon and he would rather take him :/ he’s only chewing and licking it when we clean it with the salt water if that makes a difference. other than then he leaves it alone.
