Possible stroke help

I’m Sorry to say no. We did go to see her tonight with a view to bring her home if everything was ok But Unfortunately she’s not eating as much as they would like and they are still having to syringe feed her every few hours. We can’t afford to have anymore time off work at moment so she would have been on her home all day till about 3 pm because of this we decided to leave her there.
We will have all weekend to try to get her eating herself. We did sit with her for 40 mins and she did eat quite a few leaves of veg and a piece of cucumber.
I’m afraid to say at this moment in time she still doesn’t seem to be able to see or hear anything it’s very difficult to tell if she has any brain damage as she is doing some very strange things. I know it’s still early days but we have decided as long as she can eat and drink herself and will have a good happy life that’s all that matters.
Ellie is going to give her a check over tomorrow and give us an update on what she thinks..
Our total spend on treatment after tomorrow is very close to £700 😧 so we are really hoping she pulls through.

These little creatures do manage to get deep into our hearts, don't they? Lots of thoughts coming your way - no-one could have done more for her than you guys have. Fingers still firmly crossed.

Keep fighting little lady we are all sending healing vibes and hoping you get well. ❤️❤️

Aw bless her, in that picture she is looking much better. To be honest you've definitely made the right decision if your out at work you won't be able to syringe feed so the vets definitely is the right place for her.

I really hope, she's able to get her happily ever after!

You and the vet are doing a brilliant job, I'm not surprised by the vet bills they can very easily mount up.

Wow I’ve just caught up with this. You and your vet have done such an amazing job. Sending you healing hugs, but that picture does look like she is improving, poor little girl. Fingers crossed for,you all. X

Fingers crossed for little Peanut, hope you have a good weekend and she feeds well. She does look a lot brighter in the photos, you are doing everything you can for her x

It's very early days so hopefully she has a lot of room for improvement. What a little fighter she is. You have done so much for her, such wonderful kind people xx

just had a call from the vets with an update. Unfortunetly shes still very vacant and not moving about an awful lot, but she is taking her syringe food well.

I have told them we definitely want to bring her home tonight as I'm hoping being near boris may help her to recover better.
I can assure you she will be very spoilt all weekend and get lots of love and attention..

Poor girl, shes probably in shock still from everything which has happened to her. Time heals and hopefully being at home with familiar surroundings and such loving care will bring her round. Its so frustrating in these situations, I do wish you well. xx

We are all rooting for little Peanut. She has such wonderful parents and Boris to come home to, she will loved x

Hi Yes we collected Peanut last night, shes a completely different little Guinea pig. we know its still early days and she is improving all the time, but at the moment we dont think she can see or hear and she is still very wobbly.
she does seem to have an awful lot to say which is very cute chattering away telling us all about her adventure. Not heard her singing yet which she used to do quite alot, which is a shame as it was very sweet, as soon as she heard you coming upstairs or a plastic bag rustle she would start singing out.

As for her appettite, she is eating and she does kind of search for her food but we are syringe feeding her recovery food and she has lots of medicines we are also giving her lots of cuddles. we are hoping when she works out her surrondings and we keep her cage the same she will be able to find her way around. her poos are a little worrying as they are very small at the moment and when we put boris in the play pen with her last night he was happy to see her but a little rough and knocked her over a couple of times.
we dont know if she will completely recover or not as nobody is sure how the poisoning as effected her brain but as long as we think shes happy and can do the things she might want to do thats all that matters.
shes back at Alfreton Pet Hospital on Monday evening to have a check up.
will send some photos a little later when i finish work :)

Glad to hear she’s home.
It does take time to recover- I think we forget that because we want them to be better immediately.
Your love, time, care and patience will bring results

So glad to hear Peanut is home with you and Boris. She is certainly a fighter. Hope she is now on the road to recovery. ❤️🐾

She has had a very big trauma so she is going to be subdued. I think she is doing well all things considered. Keep up the syringe feeds as this will ensure she gets all the nutrients she needs. She is a very special piggy

How is little Peanut doing? Hope she is still on the mend, she’s such a fighter x

Hi Thanks for asking,
Shes went back to the vets on Monday for a check up and shes now off her pain killer, I think shes coming to terms very slowly with the loss of her sight and hearing, but she does have a few neurological issues, her balance is not the best all of the time and when she gets excited she shakes her head about...
At The moment Shes also not eating as much as we would like, and on monday she did have the runs which as now almost cleared up.
Ellie our vet was a little concerned she had lost a bit of weight so we have increased her syringe feeds slightly and we keep sitting her as close to fresh vegetables and her hay as possible.. Shes also managing to find her way around the cage now but shes not a big explorer at the moment.
We are doing our very best to get her as well as she will ever be and every day there is a small improvement. :)

You are doing an amazing job with little peanut. I hope she continues to improve. 🐾

I also sent the receipts and a written report from our vet Ellie yesterday to the Pet Shops head office, Not sure if they will do about it but it would be nice if they do.
The total we have payed out not including, extra cages, time off work, Fuel costs, Sleepless nights and an awful lot of stress is £717.86 plus on the advice of several people we may still have to have boris Neutered.
But shes worth it:luv: (Not sure if Boris will agree)

Hoping Peanut continues to improve.
After all she's been through it's no wonder that it's a rocky recovery but I'm sure that you will pull her through.

Hope the pet shop's head office respond positively - otherwise you could report them to the RSPCA, Trading Standards, and anyone else you can think of

Fingers crossed she continues her recovery x Come on Little Peanut we are rooting for you! You are so very dedicated in her care you all deserve the best of luck x

Back to the vets tonight for another check. To be perfectly honest it's been a worrying week, when we last saw Ellie, she did say today could be decision day for peanut if she doesn’t start eating and keeps losing weight.

We have tried everything we can to try to get her interested in food again but she just seems to have the odd nibble at her hay and she point blank refuses to eat any veg apart from cucumber.

We have been feeding her critical care via syringe to keep her going and I’ve been blending her pellets with fresh veg and syringe feeding that.

She is hungry, and when you put the syringe to her mouth she takes it without a struggle but just doesn’t seem to want to go and look for her food.

We are almost certain she can’t see and 100% positive she can’t hear, so it must be very scary for her going wandering about in her area of the cage. We keep everything exactly the same and if we put her towards the bottom of the cage she will walk back up to her bed area but that’s all she’s doing. She has ventured back down again but I’ve only seen it twice.

It’s very frustrating, I keep leaving trails of food to try to encourage her to follow them but she will only eat hay and the odd pellets if you leave it all around her.

We did make a huge breakthrough last night, I was trying to coax her to eat her blended pellets from a piece of Kale and I put some on a piece of cardboard which she then began to eat.

My wife filled an empty toilet roll with some fresh veg and she craftily put some cucumber in the middle. Peanut then began to eat her way through the veg to get to the small piece of cucumber which was something to celebrate.

She is making very small improvements on a daily basis but the eating thing is a huge problem. We did hope putting Boris back with her would help, but every time we put them together he just keeps getting on top of her and trying to mate, which makes her squeal and she gets very distressed.

As she’s not able to defend herself at the moment we can’t leave them together for more than a few minutes at a time.

Not really sure what to do, I know it’s still early days but running out of ideas..

Poor, poor Peanut. :( Are you able to rub her scent around elsewhere in her cage, perhaps just expanding the area she's currently staying in for now? How about her husboar's scent too, like some dirty bedding? She may not be able to share space with him, but maybe his smell could be reassuring? Fingers crossed for you!

Such a worrying time.
I can’t suggest anything that you’re not already doing.
All I can offer is continuing support
