Hi all,
My guinea pig Trevor has been dealing with GI stasis recently. He’s now got it again after being well for months, we’ve had every test done at the vets and they are unsure what’s causing it! He has been to the vets today and has been prescribed pain relief and is being syringe fed critical care. He’s got discharge running from his eyes and is so lethargic, but the vet assured us that he hasn’t got a URI!
Has anyone else had issues like this with their piggies and what did you find was causing it?
Thank you,
Jess and Trevor

Hello,

Sorry to hear this 😔 one of our piggies had 5+ episode of stasis within a few months around 18 months ago. We never found a cause, and the vet suspects it's just something she's prone to.

She takes 1ml Emeprid twice a day long term and this keeps her well.

She didn't have discharge from her eyes though so not sure if this is the same thing I'm afraid.

Worth speaking to your vet about a repeat prescription if this continues!

Good luck
