Hi! One of my Guinea pigs has ringworm on her ear and I have bought some ringworm spray to get rid of this but I am a bit concerned about putting it on because I have often seen them grooming each other's ears and I don't know if it will be harmful if it gets in their mouths. Should I use it? Thank you

You would think it should be harmless if injested, but you can never be too careful can you?!

Could you let us know what the spray is? Someone might know of any side effects, or it might be worth Googling it to see if anyone has any info.

Ok thank you! It's called Beaphar Anti Ringworm Spray. I will have a check on the Internet.

Hi and welcome!
Please see a vet for a proper diagnosis. We do not recommend to home treat on spec with usually low dosed shop products. Another new member has just reported problems with a ringworm spray.

You may also find the information in our ringworm care guide helpful. Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

Ok thank you yes I will try and get a vet appointment booked! I had been assuming it was because of a friend that had similar problems and from what I've heard but you're right I would definitely be more comfortable knowing it definitely was.

You can find lots of tips on how to deal with the most transmittable problem between mammals (including humans) in our ringworm guide to make sure that it is a one-off affair and that you don't catch it and transmit ot further.

We are currently seeing an increase in fungal issues because the relatively warm and humid weather the in the UK provides ideal conditions for any fungal infections.
