I have a 5-6 month old female guinea pig. I got her from a woman with really young children because she was afraid they were handling her too roughly. I had her alone for a while, until I could find her a friend, which I have had with her for about two days so far, they seem to like each other. Before I had gotten the second piggy, I noticed that Linny had bare spots on her back, I looked closer and noticed some small scabs. I'm not sure what these are from, but I'm going to take her to the vet soon. She had also become less enthusiastic about her veggies, and less playful with her toys and treats. I am worried she was or still is depressed?

Please take her to see the vet. We are unable to diagnose over the internet but hair loss and sores/scabs could indicate mites or fungal infection. The vet will need to identify and diagnose and then prescribe the right treatment. She will be very uncomfortable so please get her seen sooner rather than later. Please let us know how you get on at the vets.

I had thought it was just from boredom, but then I looked more into it an I found out that I had been using pine bedding, so I bought some new bedding and things and I'm hoping that that will help make her more comfortable while I'm at school, so I can take her to the vet afterwards.
