Store Bought Cages

The first months in the new house were messy. The rooms were filled with boxes with no space. So I had to purchase store bought cages for my guinea pigs. Now things are calming down and on Wednesday (January 17, 2018) our package for the c&c cage is coming in with also a bunch of toys and tunnels. Any ideas with what I can do with the store bought cages so they don’t go to waste? Thank you :D

I used mine and built an extension with C&C style plastic grids, or you could use them for their hay area? I've now built a full c&c for them though, but only because I got it really cheaply.DSC_0333.webp
 
I use the metal part of mine when i put them out on the lawn. It's handy because i can attach a water bottle to it and throw a towel over it on sunny days so they don't get too hot :)
Another option is you could donate it to a local animal shelter, they will surely find good use for it!

Amazing ideas! The cage I'm getting for my piggies are more like a pen with a detachable floor mat and cover so I’ll be able to use it outside. But, the idea with donating one of the store bought cages to the shelter is amazing! Thank you :wub:

When I upgraded to C&C cages, I donated my old cages to a local rescue - often they need smaller indoor cages for hospital / emergency accommodation. I also kept a couple for 'just in case', and it's amazing how often we use them - for hospital / cleaning / travelling / outdoor uses :)

I would hang onto them, you never know when they might come in handy.
I had 3 spare indoor cages 120, 100 and 80 and neary got rid of them as my pigs are in 5ft hutches in a heated/instulated shed. However i am glad i kept them, as unfortunately our house was ruined by a fire 4 weeks ago and the cages came in very handy for emergency accomodation for my 5 pigs.
 
I have a store bought cage for my baby piggies, because I am worried that a c&c cage bar spacing will be too wide for them until they've grown. I've been wondering what to do with this cage once they've outgrown it. There are some great ideas in here!
