The Beastie Boys

After studying up on abyssinions a bit, I keep reading that they are rough coated. I'm now hoping that Mr Bob is Peruvian mix as he's amazingly soft. I think I'm panicking that I have another satin!
Opinions or reassurance please 🙏
My late Nui was an abyssinian from a breeder and she didn't have a particular rough coat.
My late Jerry had a rougher coat than most other piggies I've had. He was an abyssinian mix.

And then I had two abyssinian mixes with a touch of longhair. Both had a soft coat, especially my late Kimi. 🌈 Merlin's fur was a bit rougher but not really rough.

I think that the breeding standard goes for a rough coat but abyssinian are particularly hard to breed. Not only the position and shape of the rosettes but also the roughness (or not) of the fur. So you will often get abyssinians that don't come up to breeding standard even from reputable breeders if you are not interested in breeding yourself.
And most piggies with rosettes don't come even close to breeding standard.

Luckily, that doesn't matter at all. But I don't think you have anything to worry about if the coat is just soft and doesn't have the typical satin shine.

Chip was a aby/tex. He was very soft and short haired.
Joe was a abymix too, or at least I think he was a mix? He definitely had aby in him. He was very soft too, felt like he had babyhair.

Maybe "rough coat" means the coat is wavy rather than smooth, as opposed to having rough or coarse hairs? I can understand you feeling unnerved because of having had a satin tho.

Btw, Mr. Bob has got pretty big! Over 700g, wow!

That needs to go on the Boars Galore thread 🍒
Sorry, I was only looking at the cuteness 😍
Thanks everyone for all the reassurance, I was having a bit of a moment I think.
He's growing really well and the relationship with Sir George looks fantastic. Every time he's a bit defiant Sir George seems utterly delighted, I don't know if that's weird but they're both happy and loving life.

Pigcam has revealed a very interesting behaviour. Sir George has always been one to let more water out of his bottle than he drinks. I've now watched him dribble the water on his front feet then wet his face with it, mostly his ears. He has also been seen wetting Mr Bob's ears too! I've been refreshing the water several times a day and he's definitely more likely to do it with the freshly cold water.

Clever little piggy, he's a great dad 🥰

Well done Sir George, perfect way to stay cool. 🩵

Wow that’s very clever ❤️

He constantly amazes me. I'm sure he understands everything we tell him. Much as I adored Master Boris 🌈, he definitely didn't have the same level of intelligence. Mr Bob seems very smart so far, maybe he listens to "daddy's" advice?
Both boys are enjoying the new penthouse and Mr Bob didn't even need teaching to use the ramps. I put one hammock up as an experiment. This nearly started a war so another one quickly went in!

:hmm::blink::vom:

Despite how comfortable he is out of the cage Mr Bob still runs and hides when we walk into the room. Yesterday however, despite being right at the front he stayed put. I thought he was eating a poo but his head stayed down for a long time. When he eventually lifted it up his pee pee was on show!
I think I witnessed him discovering the "joys" of being a boar!

Who needs an alarm clock when you have a Mr Bob?
I slept until nearly 8 this morning, until the shrieking woke me! Even when I get up "on time" as soon as he hears movements he's summoning me!
He's so noisy. He doesn't take a step without making a sound of some kind. I don't know if it's because he's young or just a chatterbox.
He is adorable though 😍

It could be, I did have young ones who quietened down as they grew into adults.

Maybe he's just saying "Good morning! How nice to see you!"

Sir George was not so Dignified this morning. Mr Bob was doing his usual circuit course at full speed (and volume) around the cage while I sorted breakfast. They both then disappeared into a dark corner under the loft and I heard a kerfuffle. My immediate concern was that they were having a disagreement. Then, after much squealing, Sir George rolled into view! He continued rolling around kicking his little legs and squeaking for a few seconds before launching into the biggest round of popcorning that I've seen from him for a couple of years. Mr Bob was attempting to watch him but having his own moment, he looked like a floofy bucking bronco.

Oh, Sir G! You dont have to be dignified all the time. Everyone loves a happy popcorn!
Sounds like we have a new little Bobcorn in the world. I'm sure my RB-Bob is very proud of you, little Mr Bob!
