You have had an unexpected morningNot the morning I expected when I got up today! When I got downstairs the sound of rapidly chattering teeth greeted me. Duck and Snoopy were really going for it with Bertie cheering them on at the divider. I sat and watched for a few minutes, things were really escalating, aggressive yawning rearing up, lunging and boxing each other like kangaroos. I dropped a fleece blanket on Snoopy and got him out of the cage. I made a cage up for him and decided to give them a day or two to cool off and try them again.
Duck is looking more relaxed than he has been since the babies arrived and is happily talking to Bertie at the divider. Brillo has been asleep all morning in his hidey, he has been very irritated by Parker lately and has been nose punching and pulling his hair. Brillo is really not good company for Parker he is too old, arthritic and sleepy. Having made up another cage I decided to try Parker and Snoopy together not expecting it to work. They have humped each other every which way, eaten poop and hay together, washed, slept side by side, humped again and are now back to sleep bums touching like a pair of bookends.
I am now back to square one, Duck and Bertie relaxed together with a divider and Brillo alone, not that Brillo's even noticed yet! I will give this until the end of the week to make sure P&S will stay together this time and put out some feelers to see if I can find Brillo an older boy for company.

Was woken this morning to hear rapid teeth chattering and step stools flying. Snoopy and Parker were having a row. I think they really frightened themselves because they have not left their hideys all day. I found a lump of fur in the cage but can't see a bald patch on either of them and no scratches or bite marks. I've put hay in the doorways of the hides and have kept a watch on them. Time will tell if they will stay together or not. I've had fleece here to make new cage liners for the last year so I will be sewing in their room and keeping an eye on them for the next few days.I love Brillo’s walkway, it sounds like he is having a great time visiting Duck & Bertie through the bars.
Hope you have all had a calmer day.

Never a dull moment with a house full of boars!
Better today although very wary of each other. Every now and again one of them will creep up to the other's end of the cage, once noticed there's lots of angry squeaking a nose off and a retreat. Those hormones are definitely rising, the evidence is following behind them!Hope they do settle down soon

I don't think it's an infection. I think he gets an obstruction which makes him noisy, he used to get it every couple of months and he would cough and it would stop after a few hours. The last twice it has gone on for a couple of days and I have taken him to the vet because I would feel bad if he did need medical help and I didn't ask for it. Both times the noise has stopped after one or two doses of Baytril which makes me think it wasn't the Baytril that helped, the obstruction has just cleared. I delayed taking him this time and then lost confidence in my decision which I now regret.I wouldn't want to go back to any vet either if they talk PTS when you don't feel that it's the right time yet. It's always your decision!
I'm sorry that you don't feel that baytril will help.
His symptoms remind me a bit of Pino's symptoms. In Pino's case, streptococci were the reason and baytril doesn't work against them. That's why baytril didn't have a long term effect on Pino.
Maybe baytril isn't the right antibiotic for Brillo either?
