The Pigglingtons

Sounds like everypig had a great time, and a lot of organised chaos! 🥰
Glad all went mostly well, apart from Parker learning how to escape.

Our boys love a semi permanent floor pen- most evenings. We leave it up until I decide it needs a clean, or we have visitors.

I'd love to do that and have done in the past when I had less piggies but to get them all together is 4 extra pens, 5 if Freddie and Rolo join in. To go from one end of the room to the other you have to step in the pens. I am considering putting Fizz and Fuzz on the floor and taking their stand apart. I really like and need the storage underneath though. This would mean one less pen, they would still get 'entertained'. That way I think I could get my puzzle table up as well. I would be able to make a puzzle while I'm supervising. I'm away next week so will make a decision when I get back.

Absolutely devastated to have to be typing this but Duck died sometime in the night. I knew he was going yesterday when he went very quiet and wasn't coming out of his box, he just huddled in the hay all afternoon. He was fine at 7am when he had cucumber and pellets, he was begging at the front of the cage as always. At 10.30 am he wouldn't have his Metacam in the cage like he always does, I had to lift him out. He didn't want his strip of lettuce then either, he refused syringe feed so I didn't push it. I made him as comfy in his box as I could with a snuggle safe. He was very calm and quiet and didn't seem to be in any pain. He was still just with us at midnight when I checked him. I checked him again around 2.30 am and he had gone.
It's such a shock, he had got over his operation so well and was his usual bright bubbly self.
I've been so grateful to Little Wheekers letting us have him as a divider companion for Bertie when they both seemed to be impossible to bond with anyone. Bertie was lying at the divider when I found Duck, he's missing his friend today.

I’m so sad to read this
He was doing so well …I guess the pull of RB was too strong
Sending you all and Bertie much love

So gutted for you. I’m really so sorry. He was a lovely boy and clearly very happy with you. Take care as you grieve.

We have another chirper! Someone has been chirping all evening. I have been creeping into the room to try and catch whoever it is and he stops before I got a chance to catch him. I've caught him at last, it's Parker. My partner has been checking the boiler, he thought it was making funny noises. We really need to communicate more!

I am so sorry to read this sad news.
You gave Duck a wonderful life and so much love.
He was able to pass away peacefully in his own home which is a blessing.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve.
Hugs 🤗

I took this a while ago and don't think I ever posted it (I can't see it on this thread). We had a hamper from Cornwall and the box makes a perfect play pen hay box. I emailed a picture to the hamper company and got a lovely reply saying how much it had made the office employees smile.
I was reminded of this by Sir Saxon's post in Moses and Miriam's thread.

So sweet made me smile too 😊

Bertie has new neighbours. I've built a walk way across the room from Fizz and Fuzz's cage into the one next door to Bertie so they can go across and say hello. Fizz and Bertie have always been fascinated by each other when in the garden runs, they are spending a lot of time at the divider chatting. Fuzz mostly just keeps an eye on things. They are mostly in the cage next to Bertie now, their old cage is neglected. I would have preferred it if I could have extended the cage next to Bertie to make it big enough for 2, I can detach the walkway to reach to clean the cage but if I extend the cage I can't reach in to clean it. They are happy and that's the main thing!
I did try Parker next to Bertie, what a pumped up lump of testosterone he is. Mr Angry went on for hours, raised coat, shouting, storming around he wouldn't settle and nipped Bertie's nose through the bars. In a way it was good it didn't work because I'd have had Snoopy left on his own and at least those two get on divided. I've tried Snoopy with Bertie before and that was a no go too.

The Guinea Pig Tetrus game continues. I can't cope with Freddie and Rolo in my bedroom any longer. Freddie has decided biting the bars and or his wooden house every hour during the night demanding breakfast is fun, he's now got Rolo joining in.
I've enlarged Fizz and Fuzz's old cage to 4 x 4 and divided it for Parker and Snoopy. I now have their old cage soaking in disinfectant ready for Freddie and Rolo. Fizz and Fuzz have lost the walkway to their old cage but their new cage will be extended later today. Not only will I gain my room and hopefully some sleep back it means Snoopy now gets 4 x 2. I really don't like 3 x 2 even for a single. Freddie and Rolo will be in 5 x 3. The only one not moving is Bertie who loves his 4 x 2 with it's 4 x 1 ramp and he's not moving or sharing with anyone. I wouldn't dare try to move him! So all the piggies will have better cages and Bertie has new friends next door he can get on with. The humans have lost most of the living room.

You don’t need a sofa. Sit on your bed 😊
That's what my partner says but he also says I don't need a bed I can string up a hammock!
He's a terrible influence when it comes to more piggies but we really must try not to have more. I've just said I'm not packing the upstairs cage away until I come back from my daughters (cancelled this week due to the weather). He said I should just leave it there in case!

He clearly has his priorities right 😁
Have a nice time with your daughter when you manage to get there

You may come home to find more piggies in your bedroom!
I don't know why I laughed, that's not funny.
To be honest the main reason not to take the cage apart yet is Fizz and Fuzz are not using the extension part of their cage and I'm not sure it's going to work, they may get moved upstairs. I am going to give them some time to see how it goes, they get on well with Bertie especially Fizz. The main part of the cage is more than big enough for a single but it's not big enough for a pair. It's also very difficult to get at to clean. If this doesn't work we will have to find a friend for Bertie and the cycle we are trying to break continues!
