Thank you ever so much Wiebke The piggles have all been checked over by my vet and I can do health checks to an extent I grew up on a farm and I have done Animal Care at Bishop Burton to I can detect most things but I still had them checked by a vet as I cant check to that level of medical care They are all passed but problems included Gammys eye but they said it would be pointless and harmful to operate as he is in no pain and is living fine. Fushas broken leg they said it would be to risky to operate and she is young eating and drinking fine she may grow up with just a limp and the Orphans that he thought would not survive the night.... they are doing much better now all three are advancing especially the male he is so greedy in the morning.

Has Fusha got painkillers or is the break old and already half-healed? You will have to have to keep an eye out for arthritis issues in the longer term although piggies usually just get on with life, whether that is an impaired limb or impaired sight. In which way is the eye gammy? Is it as a result of an untreated eye injury or infection?

It is great that you can pull the orphans through. Hopefully, they did get some colostrum (antibody-laden first milk) from mum before she died, as that is going to improve their chances of survival massively. Here is a link to the updated and current best tips for hand rearing babies. Make sure that you weigh them once daily and that you separate the boy in time (3 weeks, unless he is well over or under 250g). He can go with an older uncle boar to teach him the ropes: Hand Rearing - Galens Garden

Awww the second one down looks like one of my (many) childhood guinea pigs. So beautiful. You are doing really well giving them quality of life.

When I took Fusha to the vet he said the brake was old and that he daubted she was in pain as she is eating well drinking and moveing I currently have her in the small cage with the orphans to limit her moving to much to make it worse, Though if you think she could be in pain I shall go back to the vets to talk about putting her on some?
Gammy is called Gammy the eye is not infected and the vet said it was cataracts and he is not to worried as it is only in one eye and he is eating drinking and living fine.
Both these guys are likely to stay with me unless very special and specific homes come along.

The Orphan that was limp I have a slight feeling she got no first milk the other two are much bigger and she took days to get out of that just born gangly stage but she is doing well and drinking more as they all are the male now knowing where the milk comes from and when will start squeaking moments before I come to them demanding his food.

Thanks to your diligence these piggies will get the best care and forever homes .The rescues recommended on this site are top standard rescues.Just be prepared when the numbers of piggies are at your limit,it easy to carry on ...end up with more than you would like to keep:)

I gave the males a carrot in a carrot holder just now.... the swarm has descended XD I think I need to buy more carrots today.

Yes I have ordered two more C&c cages I'm going to put them against the walls like I have my current one and make them 3-4 cages to they have much more room my sisters are coming on Sunday I think I might end up loosing some to them :)

He is isn't he to be honest I'm a little sweet on him myself he is the one seeking contact the most. Gah! no stap it I cant keep them all! DX

Honestly if you don't keep him and struggle finding a home for him I'll adopt him ! Deadly serious ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Kiara, its heartbreaking what you had to see, you are one special person to have rescued these piggys.
I would love to have one of the special ones, but know I can't as I have 2 dogs.
My 8 are used to the dogs, when they bark, my pigs take absolutely no notice. Hope you find new homes for any that you want to rehome, so they can go to they forever home.
Take care & keep well my friend.

Awww its ok i shall do all i can to find ***** homes unfortunaly these piggles are very skittish I'm working on it though @.@

Wow! I've just read this thread, I'm in between angry an really heartbroken. Was this woman a breeder? Or accidental breeding = more babies breeding with each other etc? I was once over run with rabbits this was when I was 13/14 ish, adopted a lovely floppy eared bunny from a old friend he was fab, another friend offered his rabbit too I had two bucks then, they really got on really well. About a year later floppy died my mum replaced him we were told the bunny was a male ... Wrong! He was a she! She had her first litter (sadly the pups all disappeared) then followed her 2/3/4/5/6/7th litter they had full run of my long back garden was bunny heaven! I had to sell, give away to friends this was in the 90s we lived next to a pub with a golf course attached, pregnant mum gave birth somewhere after she escaped I had to say good bye. Some of her litters didn't survive, I hand weaned some after rejection in a few of the litters I was 13/14 big responsibility they went to the local pet store soon as they came to age. Back then neutering bunnies wasn't as popular as it is now. I feel so sorry for any animal not getting the care they need :(
Thank god these piggies found you!

I think she said that she had gotten 6 guineapigs that where supposed to be "female"? so i dont know i was not very convinced....
Disappeared? like stolen or like eaten o2o
My biggest worry is that all 10 of the females i got are pregnant that could be 30+ babies... i think i would be giveing pig in the city a call if that happned....

Not sure, what happened to her first litter :( think she may of ate them The rest again not sure ones I hand fed apart from one or two lived. They pretty much destroyed my mums garden with rabbit holes/burrows Living next to a pub/golf course could of been taken by foxes after burrowing out. Is they any chance you could take to the vet for a pregnancy test? I live near a animal trust an they are amazing!

I could but I don't much see the point its not going to change weather or not they are pregnant and it gives me more time to focus on finding the boys a new home as people keep telling me that boys are harder to find a home than girls.
And just to add to it some of the boys don't get along where as the females seem fine with each other Just today I had to separate a trouble maker that had started a fight and gave Cremello a scratch on his nose and drawn blood.
I have three c&c cages on the way now so hopefully I will be able to Get some of the trouble causing boys out and try to bond them into pairs in preparation for a new home and to keep them happy.
I would also like to Bring the girls inside to I don't reel right letting them stay outside while I have to sort out these rowdy boys.
I'm just going to end up buying a new C&C cage every day @.@

I recommend asking on freebie sites! We got one yesterday from there, is they a rescue near by that could back u up? My local One is in Cheshire miles a way. We have 3 little boys, I don't mind boys personally... Can see patch one day being on his own for a while (not that they've had any fights but we've had them a very short time) I can Forsee having 4 piggies in the future :) I would do what's best for the situation, if you can sort out piggies (boys) first make the situation a lot better for the girls

Hi I have sent you a message about maybe helping with the girlie pigs

Awe, that's awesome! Lucky piggies they have you looking out for them. Fingers crossed for the rest finding forever homes too.

I had to take cremello out of gammys cage and swap with lucafy and minty as gammy had started to fight with him and drawn blood on his nose as soon as he was with minty they both went to snuggle in the den my sister gave me hopefully i can put some pictures up soon of the two snuggle buggs!

Hey how's the rescue going ? I've had no internet for a week and I've been dying to know how the re homing is going ! You're doing a fantastic job and you are honesty an earth angel ! I've said this before but I wish there were more people like you on this planet most people would have just dumped them! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Well so far four have gone and I'm down at 27 piggy's with two females defiantly expecting the new floor was put down but as it smells and the tiles need to come out sooner than expected liners are being bought today but only enough for two cages for now as I want to see what they come like and getting a whole load at once is rather a large amount for my bank to be able to cope with XD once they come, two cages will be raised and two sets of piggles will live is super comfort hopefully and preferably the females that are expecting and the youngest. Toys have been ordered and the females are mid way into getting a loft conversion.

Oh and thank you all so much for your vibes I don't know if it was you guys or just an amazing stroke of luck, the female Fushia has started to put a little bit of weight on her foot! I think the healing vibes are working! I'm so happy today!

I've just read the entire thread and feel you have done an amazing job there. Great news about Fushia starting to put weight on her foot. And hand-rearing those babies must have been difficult!
You handled it well too, with the lady concerned. x

Yes they all have space now so comfort is the next issue just ordered two cage liners from ziggies piggies in a dark blue!
The little orphan boy is now in with gammy and makes 10x the weeking the others do when I get up and any time I walk in or out XD
I also was watching you go through the thread like by like XD quite fun XD
That lady.... what on earth was she thinking with them all crammed in like that! Three of the boys are to go back to the vet tomorrow to see how there bottoms are healing with all the bites they did back when they where crammed together like stinky tuna! #SoMad

Absolutely. What WAS she thinking? I know accidental litters can happen, there's several lovely people here who have experienced this through other people's wrong sexing, or have been sold a pregnant sow who was not showing the signs at the time, but it sounds like she had let them breed away with no control and no room for them to live. Minimal care too, that's what makes me so annoyed about these things. Caring owners can make mistakes, and some people have the right intentions but just do not know how to properly care for their pets, but the shear fact that things were so dirty and had been left for so long tells me she doesn't exactly fit into either category. Grrrr.
But focussing on their progress is heartening. Your little orphan boy will perhaps become a confident and cheeky chappie :)
