Is he home yet?
Fab news! He's now on the road to the ladies!![]()
She'll forgive you soon you. He's just so sleepy looking and his fur is all messy, but he's bravely nibbling a piece of cucumber. I'm planning a bit more syringe feeding later tonight if he doesnt eat a bit more, the vets gave us the rest of the critical care they made up for him today to bring home. Puggle can see there's something not quite right about him and she's glaring at me wondering what I've done to her beloved!

Maybe she won't then!Yup, when the humping begins!
Not sure whether to syringe feed tonight or not, Theo has eaten a few pellets and a piece of cucumber and is nibbling some hay... he looked really sad but a kiss from Puggle livened him up a bit! I dont want his guts to shut down overnight but I dont want to keep picking him up and bothering him if he is settled. He had his usual breakfast then 20mls of critical care at the vets after his op (I dont think he needed it but the vet nurse fell in love with him and decided to syringe feed and cuddle him all afternoon rather than have to deal with a fairly terminal road traffic accident cat whose owners wont accept pts). Should I syringe feed before bed just in case? I'm watching out for the first post-op poops then I'll be more relaxed!
Hope all goes well for your boy on WedsOne of my boys is off to the vets on Wednesday for his ‘plums’ removing. I’m watching your post with interest as you will be a couple of days ahead of me. Let’s hope everything goes well for both our boys!
Ok so syringe feeding is not as easy as I thought! After it went up his nose and he bit me we compromised on critical care spread on a slice of cucumber. So he's definitely eaten 2mls of critical care plus cucumber and the rest is on my trousers and Theo's face. Now he's back in the cage eating hay so I wont spread critical care all over his whiskers againGive him syringe feed and water as much as he will take in one go until he is eating fully. It is a good sign that he is interested and nibbling!
It means that the guts are functioning and you need not worry about poos, which will take some time and may not show up until tomorrow if the guts have slowed down a bit in the wake of the op. The first poos are likely to look funny and be small, reflecting the operation and the medical cocktail he has had.![]()

And we have poops! Big long slightly squishy poops that are black but they definitely happened since he came home because he's in a clean hospital cage![]()
So glad he’s back to normal! I hope mine goes as smoothly!Just gave him breakfast and he's straight into the parsley! He has eaten pretty much all his fresh feeding hay overnight and the cage is covered with nice normal poops. I got up in the night to check on him and he was doing some sneaky 3am rumble strutting for the girls![]()
Our vet recommended keeping them seperate (which isnt a problem for us as Theo lives seperately anyway, until he cant get anyone pregnant!) because sometimes piggies act weird if their friend smells of the vets and looks poorly. She also said piggies and bunnies sometimes lick and bite their friends stitches open!In preparation of mine being done tomorrow, is it better to keep him separate from his cage mate when he comes home or leave them together? Bruno (being done) has Jack, a much older cage mate and he’s pretty laid back so there shouldn’t be any excessive activity. Also, Bruno sleeps upstairs in a loft most of the time - would it be better to take the ramp away for a couple of days til he’s mended a bit or just leave things as they are?
Sounds like he's doing fine!Just gave him breakfast and he's straight into the parsley! He has eaten pretty much all his fresh feeding hay overnight and the cage is covered with nice normal poops.
