Theo's neutering thread

A weird thing I noticed when cleaning out his hospital cage is that most of his wees and poops were in the hay tray. Thats the same hay tray that was originally supposed to be a toilet tray but after 2 weeks of him deliberately avoiding using it as a toilet I filled with hay instead. Do poorly piggies hide their wees and poos so predators dont find them? Or, is it the case that all males automatically toilet more tidily after someone chops their bits off?!

Not sure about that! When Christian and Dennis had their bits chopped off they just wee'd and pooped where they needed to and still do. Maybe Theo just feels the urge to wee and poop when he is eating hay. It sounds like he is on the road to recovery anyway and that Puggle is pleased to have him back.

So glad his recovery is going well. With regards to the hay tray, Jack lives in his so he does everything there! Maybe it’s because he’s been recovering there that all the poops and wee are there - but who knows what goes on in their little minds! I’m sure all Theo is interested in is eating and when he gets to visit his lady!😊

2 days post op: Theo is now as lively as he was before the op but is still suspiciously toilet trained- only 1 poop and no wee on his big white towel bed, all the mess is in the hay tray or on the newspaper! Weight the same as yesterday. Cant even see the tiny surgery wounds- and now all the swelling has gone down his empty skin down there looks like a pair of deflated balloons!

Thanks for keeping us informed. He sounds like he’s doing very well, let’s hope the toilet tra8ning sticks! Mine went this morning - fingers crossed everything is okay!🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Bruno went through his op okay and is now settled in a separate cage sandwiched between his friends. He’s eating veg and moving about so I’m quite relieved! Thanks for your thread @PigglePuggle as it helped me a have an idea of what would happen and sorry for hijacking your thread too!

8 days post-op and Theo had his 2nd vet check up today. All healed fine, no infection, and as he saw a different vet today he got a thorough all-over check up too (not sure why his teeth needed checking after a neutering op but it was a young keen vet chap who seemed to want to show us he knew how guinea pigs work!).
So hopefully thats all over now and he just has to wait 5 weeks for those annoying cage bars to be taken away so he can romance the ladies properly :)
