I think Pumpkin has another bladder stone. She has an appointment tomorrow morning. I need to let the vet know in the morning if I think putting her to sleep is what I'm thinking. Vet agreed with me about not operating again.

Pumpkin this year has had 3 operations already. One for cancer, one for a hernia, one for a bladder stone. Bladder stone op was only last month. She has blood again, same kind of amounts as last time I do think it's a stone.

Asked the vet if she has ever flushed out stones but sounded like it is probably not likely an option.

I'm wondering if I should go for an x-ray so I'm sure this is what I'm dealing with. How often do pigs wee out small stones? Her stone was small last time but opted for surgery incase it got stuck.

This has all felt never ending with both of my pigs. I'm very sad.

I’m so sorry Pumpkin is unwell again. I’d get the X-ray to make sure it is a stone. It may just be a UTI. Some sows can pass small stones so it may be, with more hydration, she could flush it. If it is a stone. Good luck at the vets. I hope it’s something easily treatable ❤️

Thank you. She refuses to drink but I've been giving a lot of cucumber. It doesn't look like a UTI looks exactly like last time. But yes I don't know how I would know if she will pass it or not. I think I probably need an x-ray to know for sure, I guess the one thing that has put me off is more stress for her too.

I am exhausted with this. I've spent well over 50% of my income on my two pigs in the last year, probably more by the time I add in food etc. But i love them both a lot and just want what's best for them.

Oh no, bless you heart. **Hugs**

I know someone whose sow had a stone, completely unaware she had one, no blood or squeaky wees and then one day noticed something white in the entrance to her lady bits and on closer inspection realised it was a chalky stone lodged in the opening. She was taken to the vets and I'm not sure how they did it but they basically shattered it into lots of little pieces and it was removed, she was on metacam for a few days and was over it.

I'm not the type of person to say pts I will try anything and everything if there is a chance something could work. I know other people take the stance of it they're in long term pain and it may not work then it is more fare to let them go, my mentality just won't let me do that (I obviously would in some circumstances). Apart from the blood and squeaky wees does she look like she is in visable pain? Is she still eating? Pooping? Etc?

She's acting normal mostly. Blood I didn't see till this morning. But I knew something was up before I saw the blood. because Nancy did the squeaking for breakfast on her own. Nancy only squeaks for food when Pumpkin isn't feeling well. I did hear a very loud squeak in the night but can't say who that was.

Blood got much worse from this morning to lunchtime. Not checked again yet as I'm upset and don't want to stress them out. She's still on metacam twice a day. I thought she was improving until this morning.

I am so sorry. I would have to go for the xray to be sure. I know I would always wonder otherwise. The xray should tell you if it is a stone if it's small enough to pass or not. I had a boar a few years ago who got a second stone 2 weeks after having one removed, it was in his kidney and too big to pass down into the bladder so an operation wasn't an option, we had to let him go to save him any more pain.
Sending you and Pumpkin hugs.

Thank you. I think i do probably need to know. It just feels mean to stress her out by sending her to the hospital bit again. She's not squeaking in pain just blood. So I don't think i can say goodbye without knowing. She is on metacam twice a day though that may hide pain a bit.

So sorry that you are in this difficult position.
Whatever you decide it will be right because you will do so out of love.
Holding you in my heart ♥️

I've brought Pumpkin home for now. She's had fluid injected & muscle relaxer to see if she can pee it out. I don't think it's worked as she had it four hours ago and she has just pain squeaked and looks like she positions herself funny for it. I would have thought the fluid would have helped if it was going to by now.

My vet is in tomorrow but off then for the weekend. So I need to decide if i risk waiting the weekend or get her put to sleep tomorrow. She is currently still stuffing her face.

We aren't opting for the x-ray. The vet said if she is going to pee it out it would be within the week anyway. So it's one less stress for Pumpkin to not do that, and financially better for me. The other options it could be also would require surgery. So what I know for sure is if she's not better within the week or she gets worse I will be taking her to be put to sleep.

Holding you in my heart ♥️
Thank you. I'm hoping it will be obvious tonight what the best decision is. I would rather my vet put her to sleep as I trust her. But I also don't want to make the wrong decision if she may wee it out.

You will know what is right.
It won’t stop you feeling guilty, or grieving but trust your instincts.
You will make the right decision

So sorry, sending hugs. It’s an awful decision to make, but better made soon rather than later. Take care you’ve had such a rough time

Sending you a huge hug. I’m sorry to hear this.
I know you’ll do what is best for Pumpkin, she is lucky to have you x

As @Merab's Slave said whatever decision you make will be the right one as it's made out of love for Pumpkin. You will make the right decision. Its a hard one to make as you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Thank you everyone. I massively appreciate the support.

Pumpkin looks so so much better this morning. She was looking brighter last night but still quite a lot of blood. This morning small amount of blood and think the blood it may have stopped overnight. I saw a wee where she has sat with no blood but didn't catch her doing it so not 100%.

So my conclusion is she has either weed it out which would be fantastic or it's sat in a more comfortable place. But either way I'm not having her put to sleep today.

That's lovely news, I'm so glad she's looking better 🥰 I hope she's feeling more comfortable 🩷

I’ve just seen your thread and am sorry for the position you are in 😞 I’m pleased pumpkin is looking better today and I am keeping everything crossed that she manages to pass the stone x

Thank you. She looks so much better. I'm aware that I won't know if she's peed it out or whether it's still there. But I'm just relieved to not have to make such a hard decision today.

I'm so glad she is doing better! Hopefully she has peed it out and its onwards and upwards! I'm routing for your little girl, shes proven to be a little trooper so far, come on Pumpkin!

Thank you. She looks really good tonight! Which I am very relieved by. Completely normal. Nancy on the other hand is not. Nancy has IC, and having moved home, she's decided to not drink & pumpkin being sick she's having what I am hoping is just a massive flare. But admittedly I'm a bit worried.

Oh no, not Nancy now! Bless her and you! I hope she starts to perk up x

Thank you. I'm going to have to ask my vet what can be done for Nancy. But unfortunately Pumpkin has started some on and off squeaks now. No blood though
