Hi guys!
I am going away for a while soon, and I really don’t want to leave my guinea pig because all family and friends are busy. And I want to leave her with someone that she knows and is familiar with.
I have a little travel case to take her in but I have no idea what to leave her in where we get there. We’re going to be staying in a caravan and was wondering what other people have used and would recommend! 😊
Thanks

I have taken my piggies away with us on holiday to a caravan and various cottages. If you are staying in a caravan the main concern is heat, so you will need to make sure you can check on her regularly during the day if it’s hot (shut curtains and open windows, place the piggie in a north facing/shady room as caravans do heat up. We used a 5ft diameter canvas puppy pen, it’s brilliant. I bought a £4 PVC shower curtain from ASDA and place that on the carpet, then the pen which is actually waterproof but best to be on the safe side. There’s load of these types of pens on Amazon and wayfare, eBay too. You may have to put a bowl of water in as some have a drinks hole and some don’t

Hey, I have one of these playpen’s that we use at home. Do you think this would be suitable for her to stay in whilst we’re away. She would be in the caravan, but I’m abit worried that she may bite it and escape. Can someone please give me advice on wether this is a good idea or not.

I wouldn’t leave piggies unattended in that one (speaking from experience), I watched one of my boars very quickly chew a hole in it

What sort of cage is she in at home?
Would it be possible to take that?
C&C grids also make a very quick and easy cage and they fold flat for storage snd transport.

The issue taking her with you is if you will have the space and time for her when you are on holiday.
If you are a large family in a caravan the reality is that there may not be space for her pen indoors, without everyone tripping over it all the time.
She will also need almost constant supervision as others have already said.
If the trip is really just spent around the caravan and she would only be left for very short periods of time (an hour or two at most) then this may be ok.
But if your family will be busy and out and about it really isn't safe to leave her unattended in case she escapes of the caravan gets too hot.
It also wouldn't be safe for her outsdie as a small pen wouldn't protect her from wandering children or dogs.

A better solution for everyone may be to leave her at home and have someone check on her daily.
