Oh no. It’s very strange. Hopefully the vets will have something else to try. Sending love and healing vibes.Dosing meds has suddenly become much easier (touch wood). But Polo is having these wheezing attacks every day. At the moment he resolves them by giving a big cough. I am not sure where this is all going. I think once off the meds we may be in some trouble.

Thank you ❤Oh gosh dear Polo
I hope the Vet can help him
He’s such a sweet piggy![]()
Hoping and praying he gets betterPolo detected doxy and we had to finish the dose by wrestling, but it went inI was trying to reduce the amount of sugar used. He's puffed up and pancaking on my lap
❤ No wheezing yet today.
Yes, we go to an animal hospital with an exotics department. It's a Royal College of Veterinary Science teaching hospital so the vets are professors and lecturers who specialise in exotics. They are very friendly and kind and there are vet students doing hands-on training who are keen to learn about guinea pigs. Most of the time you don't even need to get piggy out of the carrier or put him back, the vet students do everythingDo you go to an exotic vet?
Sounds like the university hospital where I see the specialist vet.Yes, we go to an animal hospital with an exotics department. I messed some doxy as I tried to give it to him in the cage. Today he wasn't buying the sugar solution with hidden doxy
Sand I had to hold him to get what was left of the doxy into him as well as the Metacam, although the Metacam was much easier
So we had a few days of consistently good intake but we seem to be back to a slightly variable dosing, not good.
I don't mind them. They are very kind to Polo, they called him a brave guinea pig the last time. It's interesting what the vet teaches them, I'm learning something tooSounds like the university hospital where I see the specialist vet.
Sometimes I wish I could just talk to the vet without the students. But it's a teaching hospital as well. And we all need future vets who learn a bit about guinea pigs.
That's very interesting, thank youI've just caught up with your posts, I'm not getting notifications on several threads at the moment. I'm sorry you are having such a struggle. When Duck had a particularly difficult to get rid of infection last year the vet resulted in the end to 2 weeks of Doxy and Baytril together it worked! I really hope you and your vet can get on top of this.
The metacam and the doxy went down OK today, but I did need to hold piggy to administer them![]()
That's true. Though I often have to bite my lips not to answer the questions that are directed to the students. Some are directed to me, some to the students.I don't mind them.
