Hello, recently i’ve gotten a new guinea pig and i’ve put them in a new cage and put the divider up. My original guinea pig (Kade) started chattering his teeth at my new guinea pig (Kadien) , but i don’t think that Kaiden did it back. Anyway i don’t know if this should be concerning?

Teeth chattering ranges from a normal behaviour to being a warning of being annoyed. Unfortunately we can’t say which one it is because we can’t see the piggies or see the context and other behaviours.

Do be aware though that having two piggies living side by side in a divided cage is not an indication of how well they will get on when you actually carry out a bonding. But if they were to be laying side by side together along the divider then that can be marking of territory and a sign that they may not get on.

If you new piggy came from a pet shop etc (ie somewhere not a rescue centre), then the new piggy should ideally be quarantined in a separate room for two weeks to ensure no illnesses can be passed on. However if the new piggy is young, then you have to forego quarantine and bond them due to the importance of a youngster being with another piggy.
