I have just introduced a young male to an older (not by much) male who is considerably bigger. I purposely picked a submissive male baby so that the natural order would be: introduce them, older one takes dominance role as the alpha boar, then they chill and can be in the same cage.

It’s been four days of attempted mounting, chutting and dominance behavior but no one has come out the alpha and they won’t stop. What do I do?‬ the little one and big one both try to be alpha and hump each other but no one is winning. There’s been no fights just the rumbling and mounting but it’s EVERY DAY NON STOP. I fear it WILL escalate to fighting and we need them to get along. Even weirder, they cuddle all day and eat together, they play together and sleep together, but still chut and rumble and get into dominance mode every time they see each other. How do I stop this? Is this weird?

You can’t stop it. You need to let them work it out between themselves. Just be careful you don’t intervene too quickly.

You also have to bear in mind that the hierarchy can take two more weeks after bonding to be decided. So it’s still very early days.

Have a read through the guides below.

:agr: This is entirely normal for newly introduced piggies. its what they do and you cannot stop it. As siikibam has said it will take two weeks for them to fully establish a relationship but you will stil
see mounting, rumbling etc throughout their entire lives, it’s just what piggies do.
my well bonded 2.5 year old boar pair love nothing more than a rumble and a chase for seemingly no reason

do bear in mind though that picking a younger piggy so the older one will be dominant is not the whole story. age is largely irrelevant as character compatibility is the key deciding factor on whether they will get on for the long term.
