Hi this is a real emergency I have 4 female guinea pigs all 3 years old.

One of my guinea pigs bubbles has got bumble foot which we have been told is a fungal infections in the foot . We have been given anti biotics and Metacan, neither have worked. We've also been given a cleaner to clean her foot with - not sure of the proper name. We are going to try that now. We've been to the same vets twice however the same response is it will get better and have more medication. However it's only been getting bigger and bigger to the point where her whole foot is swollen and is covering her nails.

We are going to find a exotic vet however there aren't a lot around my area. The vet we go to is very expensive and with no results it's quite pointless us going there.

Any ideas on what to do , have any of your gujnea pigs had the same issue?

My other guinea pig has a suspected ovarian cyst which she's had for nearly a year. She isn't in any pain while touching it nor have we seen any problems with her urnintating or eating up until now. For the past week she hasn't been coming up for her food so we have to give it to her at the bottom of her cage , however she does eat all of the food. Should I be worried ? I haven't seen her come up to the top of the cage for the past week she tends to stay down the bottom and I wondered if it was to do with not being able to get up the stairs ? Any clues

Here is a our recommended vets list. The bumblefoot needs to be put on a strong antibiotic urgently! Baytril is likely not strong enough to get it under control. As to your current treatment, I cannot comment without the product names.

Guinea Lynx :: Pododermatitis

Please also have mum seen by a vet promptly. There is usually a pain issue behaind any change in eating habits; it is not necessarily due to the ovarian cyst - but that is for a vet do diagnose.
Weigh her once daily at the same time in the feeding cycle and start topping her up with syringe feed as soon as she is losing more than 50g. Be aware that over 80% of the daily food intake should be hay, which you simply cannot control. Watching her chew on a few veg can be deceptive.

Thank you for the reply , batgirl and metacan is what bubbles has had it didn't work the first time and we was very confused on why she gave it to us again, we will definatly be going back as it has only gotten worse. As for teddy when we take bubbles we'll take her too. Me and my mum went on holiday for 10 nights and left my dad to take care of the piggies and cat. He still did give bubbles the medication but it's been no use . The vets we've been using has an exotic vet but every time we've booked an appointment she's been booked up, and at £83 a appointment we would rather have a specialist then a normal vet. There is another vet we have looked at that does have a specialist so we're going to try them hopefully this week.

So if any one has seen my last thread I mentioned one of my pigs has a cyst , well the same pig seems to been having breathing problems as of just now I've linked a video below, she also has what seems to be put in the nicest way dry snot outside her nose , should I take her to a vets tonight?

As stated above: please have both guinea pigs seen and vet checked.

All we can do is guess on here; only a vet can do a hands-on check and give you a firm diagnosis and the appropriate treatment.

PS: I have merged your threads in order to avoid confusion and contradictory advice when the same topic is thrashed out in different threads.

Thank you I've got an apointment booked for 7 pm tomorrow with a exotic vet I've also moved them all into my room to keep a close eye

I'm not surprised metercam dident make any difference, by the time it has reached the afeted area through the blood streem it will be so week that it would more than lightly be inafetive, and a stronger dose may well damage the kidneys

Re the infection

Try mentioning colloidal silver, to your vet, that is extremely effective though care needs to be taken that it is not swallowed by ether you or your pig
