Don't worry about sounding like an obsessive pet owner, they'll be used to it at the surgery... It's natural.

About the overnight stay, my vet has offered that to me on occasion when my (late) pigs had needed surgery because dropping them off in the morning makes me late for work. I have always declined because the thought of my boys being on their own and helpless was unbearable. Thankfully, my boss is an animal lover and she's quite accommodating if I need to take an extra 15-30 mins in the morning, although if push came to shove, I'd rather take unpaid leave than not take care of my pets. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention this so you don't feel alone. It's really tough having to cope with a sick pet and any support, I've found, is welcome.

Thanks for the reply. :) And your comments.
I've decided I won't leave Jake overnight, so matter what.

I meant *no matter what*. Geez, I think I'm going crazy with all of this worry...@)

I'm sorry he's gone downhill again after such a promising update earlier. Still keeping fingers crossed for him.

it's normal...

remember to enjoy your time with him too...

Keeping everything crossed for Jacob - poor little chap :(

I too have never left a piggy with the vet overnight - dont like the idea of someone just 'popping in every couple of hours'. I also think that animals feel much safer and are much more relaxed in their familiar enviroment with people they trust.

Really hoping to hear some good news.

Teresa x

Loads of vibes for Jacob, poor little fellow. Sounds like he is at a better vets at least and getting the right treatment. We all understand what it is like when they are poorly, I get stressed to the eyeballs when mine are ill and this forum is wonderful support!

Thank you so much everybody.... I'm just about to call the vets and see how he is getting on. They might want to keep him in another few hours, but I never knew most vets just left them, and it was confirmed by a friend C&B do generally, so no WAY am I leaving Jacob in the dark all alone locked away with unknown smells and noises and a place he hates:... Uh just the though makes me sick!

Update soon
Kt x

Another ****?

They said he is a lot better but bleeding from penis, they think he should be fine home overnight...

I don't know what to say to them, what happens if they say they really want to keep him in? I don't think they watch them overnight... help!

He is your animal. They can't force you to "hand him over" for the night, it is your decision to make - not theirs. You are paying the bills after all! If they have no staff there, you have a strong case for bringing him home, you can give him round the clock care if that is what he needs and he's more likely to be calm in an environment he knows.

I just caught up with this post, am thinking of you, and hope he is feeling better, any updates on the little chap??

Thank for posting. He's at the vets as he's getting meds right now, but I'm to call at 9.15pm... and will probably go pick him up then. :)

I'm picking him up now - yay!

I'm away to pick up my baby....I'll update soon x

really sorry to hear things have been so up and down with him
good on you for getting him to a good vet who can help him =] hope he gets better soon x

He's home!x>>

He's been eating his dry mix, munched on some hay, and is enjoying some pepper right now:))

I'm going to be spending so much time with him overnight (sleep does NOT matter:(|)) and keep watching incase he has another funny turn, I'm hoping that this is it now and he's on meds and I have critical care, extra syringes, etc.... everything I shall need.

And I don't think the vets are in overnight therepow-powrolleyes My friend left a mouse overnight and called at 7am to have woken the vet up, and the vet having to leave home and meet her theregrrrr
And to make it worse, there was NO sign of vet nurses or anything!:... How can they just leave sick enough animals to be left in there? I don't get it...

Sorry maybe I'm just not having the best of times with vets right now...:a19:

really happy for you guys!

Go little Jacob!x>>

Thank you! He's out wandering about the room running through tubes and popcorning, it's lovvvely. xoxo

They said if he stays fine overnight at home, then just book him in for Monday :)

He's in a Nero2 asleep on his igloo silly boy
xx8)

I'm really glad he seems so much better - hope you'll get a bit of sleep tonight too.

He's still in his cage, sleeping.
I'm gonna reply to some posts on here and then head off to beddrool
