Good to hear - I'm keeping my figers crossed for Jacob!

Wow ... I have just read this thread from start to finish and I have to say that I was really worried as to what the outcome was going to be! :(

But it was good news, which is great!
What a worry you had! I hope you gained comfort from the support of everyone on here ... it really helps when things like this happen. You get advice and support.

Well done little man and well done you for believing in yourself when you knew he wasn't right xx

Brilliant news! I agree with Bev, well done you for sticking to your guns and doing 100% for the little man! x

Thanks guys :)

He's still doing very well, didn't eat all of his dinner but I filled him with treats all day long so haha:))

Haha, yeah! That is sooo like him:)p
I brought an apple into my room and it dropped and he dragged it by the core under my bed.{:|

He's been in his cage since 1.30am now (it's now 25 mins on) he's in is igloo. I decided to leave him and let him rest, but canm't hear any shuffling noises any more so I'm going to take a look.

help

He seems shaky when he tries to stand, and can't walk too well..... he doesn't want food but he ate not long ago so that could be normal. What should I do? He's on my bed right now but just sitting there, and if I sit down and the bed moves, he almost topples straight over!

I'm starting to worry that he has some sort of brain problem for it to cause this whole balance issue, I've never had it in Guinea Pigs & if ever with my rats it has always been brain releated and usually terminal. I'm going to call the vets hope they can hear me as I'm in tears:...

he cold have possibly had a mild stroke from stress, the best thing i could say to do right now would be to put him in his cage and put a blanket over the top or if its night turn out the light, darkness will help stop him stressing too much,
check on him reguarly though and offer food if he will take it x

It's 2.13am

Thanks I've turned off the light I'm away to call the vets, I will update straight back as soon as I'm off the phone.

Thankyou for being online!

balance could mean a number of problems but most are nothing to do with his brain
a few could be
ear infection
stroke
being weak from being sick
the list goes on of what it could be i would book him in if you are worried x

Hi this is Katie's partner here, she is currently at the vet with him and she will update when she comes back on. Thank you for the replies, we lifted him with a towel and it was very easy.

Hi all they think it has been a stroke and he got pain relief they said just put him in his cage and check him every so often but leave him be until the morning I'm crying as I hope he will be ok. I won't be online as I need to stay awake and check him & the get an hour or so's sleep.... thankyou all so much:()

Woah, poor Jacob! I'll be on as well, KT, can't offer you much advice, but I'll be here if you want to talk!

Thanks.... I'm gonna go get a hot shower and then head to bed but I'll post after a shower.... usually makes me feel a little better but not right now I doubt. However, he got a shock when the vet lifed him and wee'd all down me bless the poor boy.

i thought as much:( poor little boy,
don't stress to much if you can help it,a stroke is serious but many pigs have recovered from them with minimal symtoms,he may have a head tilt if he gets through this but other than that if he is strong enough to make it and the stroke wasn't to bad he should be fine long term, big hugs to you,and some kisses for your beautiful little Jacob xxxxx
