All the best at the vets, I hope you have a lovely weekend away (as best as you can when your worried) she sounds like she is in good hands while your away. I'm sending more positive healing vibes
Great to hear she's doing really well, eating etc. keep it up little one x

Quick update before I go. Vet very pleased with progress. She can hear her heart now which sounds fine, whilst her respiration rate is still high, it's no longer a strain for her to breath. She is staying on same dosage of frusol and is still on septrin and we see her on Monday.

She is tucking in a pile of food at mums now! Got annoyed at the vets and started pulling hay through the sides of her carry box very angrily onto the inspection table! So I am very cautiously optimistic!

Keep the vibes coming, we wanted a miracle and I think we may have got it! Xxxxxx

That's a fantastic update, am so pleased the vet can hear her heart now and it does sound like she has got her spark back.

Have a wonderful weekend away and if your Mum needs anything tell her to shout.

Fantastic news Hun, I'm so pleased to hear about the positive results from the vet. Have a lovely time. Your mum sounds Wonderful and supportive. Keep on little miracle keep fighting x

Just read this through as not been on for a week or so and just want to say we are sending our love and best wishes too, its good to hear of a piggie who fights so hard and does so well, long may it continue.

Ho
How is she today?
xx

Hiya

Just heard from mum ( well from one of countless texts asking how she is!) she is doing well. Drinking from syringe, eating well. Still breathing heavily but I guess that will take time? Overall, improving every day. Apparently she is very bored! Thank goodness I am home tomorrow, all be it for only a few days but I cannot wait to see her!

Thanks for all your support and healing vibes. This forum is amazing!

Hi Everyone

Got back from weekend away yesterday very late (took 4 hours to do a 90 minute journey home!) so have just picked her up this morning (Although I did go and see her last night!). The good news is she is eating very well and has gone from 860g to 906g which is very good (she is usually 990 ish).

Her breathing is still rapid, not normal by any means but I am guessing its been a chronic infection and like us, it will take a while for her lungs to heal. She is seeing the vet again later for a check up.

All in all though very good news! She is a little bored now so I am hoping that I can put her in the heated shed at the weekend just so she starts to be with the others, maybe just for the daytime to start with. I will segregate her off for a little while as she was getting bullied and that will not help her.

She is currently curled up on her heat pad absolutely sound asleep!

x

That's really good she has gained weight. Is your vet still considering heart issues?

I am going to ask her as I would have expected her breathing to have got a little better by now. She listened to her heart on Friday and said it sounded fine. I may insist on another xray. Fortunately (well it would'nt matter to be honest) but she is insured so I am happy to thrown whatever I need to, see if anything is wrong.

Been to the vet. She was very happy with her progress (she had put on even more weight..now 915g!) but we were worried about the lethargy and fast respiratory rate. She has been xrayed and her chest is pretty much clear so this points to heart. So she is now on Fortekor and Frusol but a reduced dose of Frusol. In a lot of ways I am very pleased its heart as I was concerned something else would have caused the Pneumonia. It does mean though that we cannot get her stressed now so definitely need to rethink cage set up and a redesign!

Am glad the vet has started heart meds. It is likely that the Pneumonia was secondary to the heart issues.

@Guinea Slave I just wanted to say how amazing I think you have been through all this. It is all your hard work and determination that has made Cagney improve as she has. I hope you feel incredibly proud of yourself!

How is she doing? x

HI Everyone
Thank you so much for all your messages and best best wishes. Apologies for no updates for a few days, I have been over in France with work then over to Liverpool again for work yesterday so its been a busy week. Mum has been convalescing Cagney and well all your healing vibes must have helped!

She has put on a little more weight (she has about another 80g to go to get back to normal but that will take time). She is eating hard food, drinking by herself and pretty much back to her usual self. The Fortekor has started to work and she is not going into those deep sleeps she was before although I don't think we are there with the dose yet, she is still a little puffy but nothing like she was. We are back at the vets on Tuesday for a check up so I will discuss then.

Today is a milestone. I have segregated some of the C&C cage in the shed and put her out there. She was so happy to see her friends! They came over and said hello and there was a lot of wheeking! However, she has also made it apparent that there is no way she can go back with Sebastian. As soon as he went to say hello she shrieked and ran away crying. She is utterly petrified of him. So thats made up my mind, I cannot have her like that. So we have to do a cage redesign and she will go in with her sister and Sebastian will have the company of Titch who does not take any of his bullying. Its very sad but thats the way it has to be.

So all in all its amazing news. Those nights sleeping on the sofa with her, my wonderful mum who has cared for her whilst I have been away (Cagney just HAD to time it like that didn't she!?!) my lovely vets who never gave up even when I nearly did. And most of all you guys who have been a pillar of support and Helen who has stuck by me and emailed me and been there when i needed her. You cannot ask for more and I feel like I have some of the best 'virtual' friends on this forum you could have.

So BIG thank you to everyone! Lets hope the story continues to be a successful one! xxxxxx

Thank you for this lovely update, still in our thoughts and I'm soooo pleased to hear that she is doing so well and back to her friends. Keep us post about the vet visit, I will pop on this thread again for that update. This is an amazing story it's one of a shear amount of determination, strength, hope, support and a ton of love. You, your mum, your vet and Helen should feel very proud that you all saved this lovely piggy from something I've read about on here many times, that so often ends in such sadness. A huge well done x

What a beautiful reply. Thank you so much. But I know it's no more than anyone of us would do on here. She is an exceptional girl, a true fighter which also helps so much. She knows she is very loved by us all :-) thank you!
