I'm expecting to have a guinea pig at the end of the school year, i asked my mother if i could have one if i kept a C average, and she said yes! I really think I can do it.

But, i don't know i i have enough space. i measured a place i might be able to put a cage, but i don't think that they sell long ones.

I measured 5.5 ft long by 1.5 feet. Cam i make my own? Or are there cages that are that long?

I don’t think you’ll find a shop cage that long. Maybe take a look at C&C cages. If you’re in the U.K. www.candcguineapigcages.co.uk are great

Also, guineapigs are herd animals so if you want one, you must get two!

Be sure to read all the new owner sticky threads - they are a wealth of brilliant information. I returned to owning pigs after about a 10 year break and was so pleased to have so much helpful information as knowledge about pigs has grown and expanded so much since I last had them

Please keep in mind guinea pigs do well in pairs and should never be kept alone unless they have medical issues.

That space of 8.25 square feet will be big enough for two females. While a well-bonded pair of males may be okay, it is not recommended as males are more territorial.

Unfortunately, a c and c cage would not fit in those dimensions, unless you went to one grid wide, which I don’t really recommend.

There are really no cages that thin, and I would choose something wider unless there is no other choice. If you can go to 4ft by 2ft, you could put a Midwest cage in there, but that’s pretty much it.

I would recommend making your cage, maybe out of a playpen.

I would make your own. I made my 2x5 C&C cage and it was super cheap to make. If you buy the materials off of Amazon.
