I went shopping for guinea pig supplies yesterday to prepare for when I bring the piggies home and I got some things. Hideouts, bendy bridge, chew toys etc. I got the mandatory stuff. But what do guinea pigs like to do for fun? I know hamsters like puzzle toys but what do guinea pigs like to do? Are there any really fun guinea pig toys you recommend? Thanks:D

Mine are the same as @Betsy and love paper bags stuffed with hay!

Here are our time tested toy ideas; they are part of our new owners guide collection, which you may find very helpful and interesting. The guide collection also contains a thread about which toys and cage accessories have been found to be dangerous.

Getting Started - New Owners' Most Helpful Guides

Once guinea pigs have settled in and are confident in their surroundings, they also love to have roaming time where they have plenty of space to race around and to discover all new things.
One of the biggest favourites her is playing in a heap of their soiled bedding during cage clean. So much fun and it doesn't cost anything... :D

Anything to do with food and hay! Mine love big piles of hay to play in, eat, popcorn and generally make a mess with :D cardboard tubes (slit along the top so no heads get stuck) stuffed with hay are popular (you can hang these from the cage too!) and as from the above posts just about anything stuffed with hay is good fun for piggies. I try to combine the food by stuffing sweet peppers with hay. I think generally you can't go wrong with a nice big cage with lots of room to explore and run about in! Mine also enjoy super plushy spots to pancake out on, like a snuggle sack or cosy cup - we folded up a big soft blanket under their newspaper, puppy pads and fleece bedding and they couldn't get enough of stretching out and dozing on it.

Carrot houses, cardboard boxes, woven grass hidey tubes, hay cubes, hay racks, hay bags, any sort of cardboard thing stuffed with hay, rosewood naturals dandelion and hay chew bars... if its edible furniture that can be destroyed its usually a hit :)

Also newspaper- they can pee on it, burrow under it, get it to make rustly noises, eat the bits they peed on earlier... especially if its lining the playpen or cage so they arent supposed to!

My lot prefer to eat the hay that lines the cage that they have weed and pooped:vom: on rather than than the fresh stuff that is always available maybe it tastes better who knows?

When mine were quite little I had a plastic tube that was not too small but Pringles and solo were both in it and got stuck. They tried to climb over each other so we had to cut them out😐😂btw they were absolutely fine 😀

My guinea pigs have never had much interest in toys (unless they are edible!) Paper bags with hay are popular with mine... some of have liked chew toys (those little wicker balls!) and others have not been interested. They do enjoy time to roam around free and explore. I like the place food around the area to give them motivation to explore and forage around, and they quickly learn the usual spots to check first for treats. Two of my pigs have also really enjoyed chewing on doorframes and mouldings and Hadley once had a blast ripping up a patch of the carpet... but I don't recommend those activities! ;)

Oh yes I have to agree with the others, bags and boxes filled with hay and goodies they can search for. Anything that involves them having to rummage for yummy food is a winner!

Sea grass houses and tunnels are the best, they are even more tasty and popular once they are soaked with pee and have dried poop stuck in the woven bits :) then refill them with coriander every day until either they are demolished or you can't stand the smell!

Mine love carrot cottages, two will demolish a willow ball in a week, the other three don't look at it twice. Burrowing in hay is always a winner though.
