Hi All,

I was thinking about how much I love piggies and appreciate their nature. What’s your favourite thing about them? Mine has to be how whenever I change around the cage they make their little noises and literally check out the whole thing and every nook and cranny. I love how if I put a tunnel down they all will go through the tunnel to check it out 🥰😂 it also makes me feel appreciated, unlike doing thing for my 4 year old 😂😂😂😂

Polo walks up to the bars staring meaningfully at me and gazes at me when his pellet bowl is empty. He dashes about his cage, thumping his feet, and as last resort, starts crunching on the correx 😄 Truffle winge weeks and zooms intermittently. Or throws himself down in a corner and puts his head on his paws ❤️

I love the fact that they know the routine especially around food time. Mine don't wheek they just put their noses up and stretch their heads out expectantly. I haven't had a wheaker since Pretty Patsy and she toddled off to The Rainbow Bridge in October 2021.
Mine don’t wheek either! I wish they did 😞 I have the routine like you, however if some days I don’t put out enough veggies they start eyeballing me as if to say “well… that’s it? Where’s the rest?” 😂 I’m not sure if it’s because I have girls but they always run and hide but stick their noses out and when I put fresh hay out then the minute I turn my back they run flat out to it lol

They sound like they have big personalities!

I have remembered when I was at my last house and had a designated guinea pig and rabbit room.

I was bonding two rabbits so I slept in the room. The noise of the little creatures munching hay was just delightful. Really soothing and intimate somehow.

Yes, that sound is like... Love. And I cant stand people munching in any way. But when I hear pigs do it I feel so warm and happy.

I love that pigs is so much more communicative than what you first think. My Kongo understand some hand-signs (when he wants to 😂). It started with I noticed he was very obsessed and curious about my hands (food source!), and now he knows "move", "go home" "come", "jump/come up in my lap", "this way". Its that "go home!" he is a bit confused about. Sometimes slaves are wrong you know. I do hand-signs at work, so to bo honest I didnt really train him. I just automatically talk with signs very often and noticed he does what I beg him to (most times). Still very fascinating!

Their amazing intelligence. Although that might change soon.
Bertie now understands what we say apparently. They have been going out in the garden around 5pm since the weather got so hot, it's cooler then. We had a few rain spots this morning and I said "doesn't look like you'll be going out to grass today", Bertie picked up on grass and went loopy with excitement. I never expected to have to spell words around guinea pigs.
