COVID-19 Who's had the vaccine?

Sorry you've (and others) had a strong reaction to the vaccine, but hopefully that means your immune system has got revved up and will be even more ready should it have to deal with the real virus. Glad you're feeling better now!

well Friday was day 7 since having the jab...omg, I’ve been so ill, finally contacted GP. PCR test negative, other tests came back odd so I’m now on antibiotics, I just had to be one of those! Honest to god, if I’m going to feel this unwell again, think I’d rather not have the second as it’s clearly knocked me about more so than the average bear! 7 days on the tablets now and take it from there with constant headaches, awesome! I managed to get some respite from it yesterday giving me enough time to deep clean all the hutches whilst the furry crew enjoyed some grass time.
Here we go again, and the headache starts again... 😢

Oh dear Lil you have had a rough time of it. Sorry you have been one of the few who have had a really bad reaction. Hope you soon feel better once the antibiotics have kicked in.

I saw on the news that women are much more likely to have a reaction to the vaccine than men. They aren't sure why but given the gender line they think it's to do with levels of estrogen in the body. Apparently women build a stronger immunity as a result of the vaccine hence more likely to have a reaction

Husband is done. Just my dad left but he is at the mercy of the Danish healthcare system which is not covering itself in glory just now.

That's interesting, I know my initial reaction (the headache and being unable to sit up) was quite bad, but a dose of paracetamol and I was mostly back to normal - and my hormone schedule was off, so I likely had higher oestrogen levels than I normally would.

All the more reason to be cranky at someone else screwing with my schedule lol.

The effects of the vaccine appear to be varying massively from person to person. Makes me wonder how the long term immunity could vary massively? hmmm...

Anyway, thought I would have had mine - being a teacher, but we don't seem to be that high up on the list.
My mum had hers, she had mild flu symptoms for a couple of days but was fine. My grandmother and my father also had theirs with no adverse effects, except a sore arm.

Think of it more as how any virus affects different people differently. You and I get a cold and we could have vastly different symptoms, or the flu, or even Covid itself. That the vaccine produces vastly different side effects isn't so surprising then.

Well yes, agreed. That’s exactly how I explain it to our pharmacology students. 👍🏻

I just booked for the shot for my husband and I on April 17th! So excited! They just opened my age range today, 30 and up. Wednesday the state plans on opening the vaccine to be available to everyone 16 years and up.

The data seems to be suggesting that the elderly are getting a really good immune response despite the anecdotal data saying the older you are the fewer side effects you seem to have.

They are suggesting a link with side effects and eostrogen which might explain why “younger” women seem hardest hit. (Younger in “” because at 45 I’m not younger in the grand scheme of things but I was hit by a truck with my vaccine and I’m not in the menopause yet...)

Also a suggestion of more side effects if you have had the Covid itself. Seems to wake it up a bit...

My husband has read in New Scientist a few weeks ago that there were studies that said that a lot of people who had the vaccine and suffered bad side effects are people that would have had the virus without knowing it and were asymptomatic. And those that didn't have the virus would not have bad side effects.

Hubs had the Ox/A-Z jab last week and is totally fine - slight headache first evening but 2 paracetamol and he was sorted. He gets a couple of headaches a week so even that might have been coincidence!

I had the AZ jab on Saturday. Apart from feeling a bit tired and my arm being a bit tender where the needle went in, I've been fine.

Interesting. I was in the Oxford trial so have had several antibody blood tests and weekly negative pcr tests and so am confident that I’ve never had Covid but the vaccine was not pretty 😂

I have lateral flow tests twice a week so I know I haven't had it, my first jab gave me flu like symptoms for 48 hours!

Seriously I can't feel a thing and I'm now thinking did he do it, honest I can't feel anything, getting myself worked up
I didn't feel a thing either, but I do monthly antibody tests and I have the antibodies that are made by the vaccine, so it clearly went in! 😊
