COVID-19 Who's had the vaccine?

Have my vaccine booked for 8th and as a major needle phobic I am bricking it :P just hoping I won’t feel it

Had my first Pfizer today. Just a dead arm, like someone has punched it about 20 times.

You barely feel it. Well I didn't, I said oh is that it? It's like being pinched but not very hard at all.

I've got my second AZ on Tuesday. After the first one I was totally wiped out the next day do I'm assuming Wednesday will be a write off ,& if it isn't that will be a bonus!

I think how much you feel it depends on the person somewhat. The more tense you are, the more it hurts. The guy doing mine tried to distract me by commenting on my guinea pig t shirt - he called them hamsters 😅. For the 1st jab I was wearing a long sleeve shirt which had to be rolled up so was squeezing my arm, and it hurt more.

You may have no reaction this time - I felt mildly flu-y for a day after the first AZ, nothing at all after the second. Hope u have a good day Wednesday!

I was Trying to lessen the posters anxiety of needles lol. O well, it is true though that it depends how tense you are and stuff🙃

I didn't even get to sit down for my jab she just kept me standing up in door way, jabbed and that's it. I think if they see you are relaxed they avoid you having to touch anything like sitting in a chair etc etc. Needles never bothered me not even ones in the gums at the dentists. But if I have to talk to someone I get nervous and hate it. Strange

I had my 2nd AZ vaccination Tuesday.i was ok until thurs,I've had headache, last night felt like had flu!I've taken cocodomol and ibrufen regularly, thats keeping the side effects at bay.just so grateful I've had the full course.

I've got a headache that won't go even after taking ibuprofen lysine now, and feel really tired, even after an 8 hour sleep. But no flu like symptoms 🤒

Had the Pfizer yesterday evening and so far just an aching arm, so was fine at work today. Been taking paracetamol but it doesn't seem to make any difference but it's not too bad, just trying not to move my left arm much!

As these things go it is a very small injection and it is the volume that makes the biggest difference. For reference I sometimes have to give injections of 4ml into a buttock (a teaspoon holds 5ml). The vaccine is 0.3ml. (A small metacam dose 😂)so your body won't recognise that any volume went in. My husband is needle phobic and got in a state for both of them but he did it and both times he said he didn't know why he had made a fuss.

I had my first Pfizer on Friday and was fine, small spot that was a little achy in my arm yesterday but all good! OH had his today and is under a throw in the sofa 😂

Thank you :) I hope I will feel like your husband after 😂🤞

Aargh! When I was a kid I had to have a series of 4 injections into the buttock- not fun! **looks for watering eyes emoji**

I think it really helps to drink a lot of water after getting the shot. The first time I got it I didn't know about drinking a lot of water, so I only drank a little. But the second time I drank around 32 oz. shortly after coming home. I felt better because my arm didn't hardly hurt and I didn't have a headache either.

I was told by my Dr to pretend I had the flu for 24 hours before and after.
Take it easy, lots of fluids, avoid alcohol, etc. and I as fine.
I think it's good advice - as much mentally as anything probably.
My husband was the same, and my daughter was also fine after her first shot (second is next week).

I had my first jab back in April which was the Pfizer one. I was dreading having it and being ill after but luckily only had a dead arm. The nurse who gave me the jab said to drink loads of water through the day after it so not sure if that helped. Haven’t had a date yet to have the second one but my son who’s 19 has had an appointment for next week to have his first 😊

I had to have the anti d injection during pregnancy. My main phobia with needles is around things going under the skin, it's what I don't like about bees and wasps too. I was fine until the midwife mentioned the problem with the vaccine was the sheer volume that needs to go in 🤢 I did not feel well for the rest of the day 🤣

Now this is a slightly weird thing to admit but although I don't have needle phobia I feel uncomfortable being injected by a man - even a male doctor. In fact even more uncomfortable than if he's got to glove up and have a look 'under the bonnet', if you know what I mean. It's definitely a sexual thing but I don't know why on earth it should be! A male colleague once asked for a small amount of my blood - perfectly legit - he was qualified to take blood having previously worked in a hospital and he didn't need much... about 10 ml each from 5 different people. The other 4 queued up at coffee time - I was absolutely horrified at the thought and just couldn't agree, but couldn't really give a valid reason why without sounding like a bit of a perv!

Jab 2 this Sat (Ox AZ)... only 8 weeks after the first one so I'm guessing they're revving things up because of the delta variant in nearby Reading. Hope it's that lady Hillary again, gold-standard injecting with a big smile!

Our school found out yesterday that because we work with vulnerable children we all qualify to get the vaccine as soon as possible. I'm booked in for mine on Friday! I can't wait! I know it doesn't mean instant freedom because it takes time to become immune and we don't know if we'll still be able to spread it but it feels like a light at the end of the tunnel. And it's sparked a lot of positivity this week.

My sister in law has had hers as a student nurse and my grandma has had hers which feels like such a relief knowing that they're safe.

Who else has had the vaccine or is booked in for one?
Ive had both of mine

I've had anti-D a few times (with my pregnancy complications), it might just be me, but I swear it's the most painful injection I've had! Horrible thing

Yeah, anti d is the second most horrid. It's a big injection into a smallish muscle. All other injections of that size would be better in your bum but the speed of absorption you need mean it has to be the deltoid. I feel like the world's biggest cow when I give it. There is a new test out there now though that can tell you the baby blood group in utero so you will only get it if you definitely need it and not just in case once that is rolled out properly 👍

Oh that is good to know as would take out some of the anxiety. With my hubby's old work he had a full health profiling and he's O positive so we knew there was a good chance Jessica would be and she is. Sadly that meant having to go in to hospital the day after giving birth for another injection
