alternatives to cat litter

we bought cat litter for our pigs without any research ch on how bad it is for them. can anyone offer some alternatives to soak up guinea pig pee.

I don't use it myself but the ones I have heard the other forum members mention that they use are Carefresh, Aubiose, Fitch, Megazorb. I can't remember anymore off the top of my head but I am sure some of the other members will be able to recommend some for you.😊

when we clean out the cage we place down the news paper, then we put a thick layer of cat litter on the right side of their cage as that is where they usually pee, then we cover that in shavings so it doesn’t hurt their feet. i’m not sure if that helped

There is a safe cat litter called Bio Catolet - i have used this of and on for their litter trays.

I second the biocatolet suggestion. I’ve also used it in hay trays, and part of the cage in the past
