Hello Guys,

I live in the US, I just wanted to know some options on good quality hay. In particular i'm looking for Hay recommendations that can possibly help curb piggie pickyness lol, if not then just a really well balanced and healthy hay!

Here in the states I've seen Oxbow, Kaytee, i've been told about Small Pet Select as well. I guess if you guys can rate these hays and also provide a hay of your choice and why, that would be super appreciated! :)

Hello,

I give my Finn and Lara 2 kinds of Oxbow Hay, the Western Timothy Hay 90oz or 2.55kg and Hay Blends 2.55kg. These are the only two types I buy for my piggies. I haven't found any other hay they liked.
I will put some pictures below.

I always keep these Oxbow Hays around because you should never run out of hay for your piggies.
They get about a cup and a half of veggies daily per pig and some pellets.
I occasionally give them some fruits but in very small amounts. This has to do with high sugar content in the fruits.

These Oxbow Hay I buy are Grown in the US, which is what I like for my Finn and Lara.

I sometimes try these Oxbow Orchard Grass Hay for my Finn and Lara. I will put some pics.
I put a better picture of Oxbow Hay Blend, 2.55kg or 90oz below. It is important always to keep plenty of hay around for your piggies. Mine eat these all day long.

Oh yes I know about their diets and what not, I have been testing different hays for them and wanted some recommendations for hays that maybe i'm unaware of. I've actually recently given them the oxbow blend! I actually really liked how soft it was and my piggies finished them instead of picking and dropping. It's a shame that there isn't a bigger bag. Right now we've been giving them Small Pet Select 10 lbs and it is a big box but it goes out fast mostly because our pigs pick out the hay and the rest is just soiled on. T_T

I definitely recommend small pet select. I’m in the U.K. but they have one in America as well. I can’t leave a link sadly as I can’t find the US one and only the U.K. one as my search automatically gets rid of American things since I am in the U.K. I would recommend orchard grass for a picky piggy as it is softer and sweeter (I think).

I currently have SPS, we just got our second box but idk i feel like this box quality was poor. It was really stiff and hard with more of the straw like pieces. So now all my pigs are just picking it out and dropping it in the cage :/ i honestly can't remember if our first box was like that but I definitely felt like the moment i touched the hay in the second box it felt off. How's your experience been? :)

I have never heard of SPS but it sound like the hay you got is first cut Timothy hay which is the hay with the highest fibre. I have used this hay and it is fine but so piggies can be quite picky with it so they much prefer second or third cut Timothy hay.
