Betsy's Guinea Pigs

I'm sorry to read about Saxon's problem and your worries for Misty and Bramble. I hope that it turns out to be something else and resolvable, and Saxon can be reunited with his wives soon xx πŸ™πŸ€ž

Lilli went to take Saxon in to see her vet this morning and found that Saxon had a burst abscess which must have been very painful for the poor boy. The vet irrigated it well and has left the wound open. Not sure what AB's he's on yet. Hopefully I'll have him back next week when the vet has signed him off. Main thing is that Misty and Bramble are not off pregnancy watch and I can start up Misty's Metacam again. She's lost quite a bit of weight in the last week as I had to take her off her medication just in case.

Glad Saxon was fully neutered. But poor baby. Hopefully his abscess will heal quickly with not adverse effects.

Poor Misty. I’m sorry she had to be without painkillers.

So glad that Saxon was properly neutered after all. The wrong attribution of the swelling to a testicle rather than an abscess has obviously caused a lot of worry, but at least the vet did detect the abscess then before it got really big.
I hope the abscess clears up quickly and completely, I'm sure Saxon will be glad to return to you and his ladies

Good news that its been diagnosed and he is on the mend ❀

Really looking forward to having him back home. I hope that Misty and Bramble accept him back. He's such a happy go lucky boy. Lilli says it shouldn't be a problem as they accepted him before they will remember and accept him again. She suggested putting him in the run for the day with the girls rather than the hutch.

Oh I’m so glad Saxon can come back next week - poor boy abscesses are horrid painful things so now it’s burst it’ll heal and be more comfortable for him
Glad you can restart Misty’s meds too
You can unworry a bit now @Betsy πŸ₯°

Lilli said to pop them in the run for the day. The run is all cleaned out ready for them. Before I put in any hay, I'll wipe their scents over everything and put them in and observe them for an hour before I leave them to it for a bit and I'll keep checking on them. I'll let them be on their own for 5 minutes, then 10, then 20 and so on.

That’s great news - so pleased Saxon is coming back to you and the girls ❀️❀️❀️

Saxon is back home. A bit of tension 40 minutes into reintroduction and Bramble was showing him who was boss and it's not him! After about an hour Misty and Saxon were snuggled up under the fleece forest while Bramble was asleep under a HUGE pile of hay. They she woke up and snuggled up next to Saxon. A bit of teeth chattering and chin offs and lots of wheeks from Misty and Bramble. Lots of rumbles and bum wiggling from Saxon. I've left them now for around 10 minutes. Just waiting for the timer to go off when I'll check them again for a couple of minutes to see how they are getting on. Then I'll leave them alone for 20 minutes and double the time throughout the day. Tonight I'll see how they are getting on and decide whether I leave them in the run or pop them in the hutch overnight.
