Big Day For Beans Tomorrow.

I'm with Vicky - it could well be scar tissue (I have had 2 sows spayed and a third will be done next month ) and Noodles had a bit of a lump form which was scar tissue - but it wouldn't hurt to bring the check up forward.

I'm definitely phoning tomorrow. I'm so worried now I feel sick! She doesn't seem bothered by it at all, didn't mind me pushing on it (gently). I'm hoping that's a good sign..

Please don't panic. With any surgical scar there can be a bit of fibrous tissue that forms underneath it. She's well and perky and that's all good.

Had Beans at the vet this morning and he had a good feel of the lump.

He said he's 90% sure it's a seroma and not an abscess as Beans wasn't squealing or even seemed bothered when he was poking and prodding the lump.

I've been told to limit Beans to a confined space (again ) and it should go down over the space of a week or two if it is a seroma. I've to keep a close eye on it on the off chance it could be something worse and take her back if it gets any bigger or painful..

So kind of good news...

Now I'm trying to decide whether to separate her from Toast again, which neither of them liked, or keep them together in the small space... but they don't tend to get on in small spaces. :hmm:

That's definitely good news on the health front. And a headache on the how to keep her less active front. Good luck with that dilemma x

So I've just cornered off a 4x2 section of their cage for them both... I didn't want to separate them again as they hate it and I don't want to affect their bond.. but I'm also trying to find a balance between keeping Beans in a confined space so she doesn't make her seroma worse and trying to keep enough space for Toast...

Is this acceptable? I'll let Toast out throughout the day to run around.

SO so glad that Beans seems to be doing okay! I'd say your arrangement looks like the best choice, keeping them apart would make them both unhappy, but then this situation is tough... I have all my fingers crossed for Beans, the trouper:nod:and my boys send their love. Best of luck to all of you!

Update on Beans:

She's been doing really well, the seroma had almost went away completely and her wound was looking amazing last night, really clean and healthy looking.

This morning she came running out for her veg and even seen her popcorning and running. Got her out to check on her and I could feel wetness all over her stomach, had a look and it was blood.

She's somehow managed to tear the stitching out and rip a bit of her wound open.

The vet took her in right away and had a look. He said he'd prefer to put a staple in it to hold it together rather than putting her through another operation to re- stitch it.

It was done within 15 minutes and she handled it really well, she seems fine munching on her hay now

I'm so upset for her, she's been doing so well, last night her wound looked amazing and her seroma had went right down and now this, I could cry for her

:( Poor Beans, well done for getting it sorted so quickly. You have a good vet and you are so on the ball she is in safest of hands. She has healed well once, she will again. Have a hug x

Thanks. It's just so disheartening. She was doing so well, it was healing nicely then this, she's got a big staple holding it over now. I'm just worried about her getting an infection or something. She's back there on Friday anyway for a check up. My nerves cannot cope!

You have to remain positive. Beans is a trooper and she has you and excellent vet care. This is just a hiccup. Xx

It's so strange how the piggies don't seem too bothered and us poor humans can't sleep due to worry!

C'mon Beans! Snuggles for mum! You are a lil fighter.

I've been away so only just catching up. What a roller coaster you and Beans are on. Sending Beans healing vibes and big hugs to you both.

Thanks everyone. But I've just came home from work to find Beans has pulled her staple out :(

My Mum has been watching her whilst I've been at work and said she's been eating and moving about fine, she hasn't seemed like she's in pain or anything so has no idea how or when she's pulled it out.

I've phoned my vet who said as long as it's not opened up (which it hasn't thank God) he thinks the best think is to leave her be until morning, he's asked me to come in first thing.

I've given it a gentle clean with salt water and it's only bled very very slightly. She's had some more pain relief but she honestly doesn't even seem bothered by it.

I've put Toast back in the big part of the cage and put Beans in a really small section, just a 2x2 c and c for tonight, so she has no room to run around so she can't injury herself anymore.

I'm going to sit up with her all night, I'm terrified she'll start pulling at it throughout the night :(
