I've had Guinea pigs my hole life and they've always been little rugby balls but one of me three Guinea pigs is quite skinny. He is a happy little chap and gets along with his brothers I try to feed him separately when I can but he just hardly eats. You can feel his spine and legs and is just a lot smaller. My mum keeps telling me there all just different sizes but hes my baby and I'm awfully worried.

maybe you could try soaking his pellets. he might like them more that way. i’d take him to the vet though.

How old is he?
Do they definitely get on well together? Three boys together usually doesn’t work, so you need to be certain there is no bullying going on and he isn’t being prevented from eating.
You should take him to a vet though. There may be a medical issue which is causing this - ensure it is a cavy savvy vet, have his teeth checked (including his back teeth).

I agree, this is basicly what I was thinking 👍

Hi!

Please have your skinny piggy vet checked. Something is clearly wrong!
When weighing piggies, we not only look at the weight changes but also at the 'heft', i.e. we feel around the ribs for the body mass index. A healthy piggy's ribs should be just able to feel but they should not stand out. If you can clearly feel the spine, then a piggy is quite underweight.
Please show your mother the chapter on Weight and Heft in our Weight Guide: Weight - Monitoring and Management

Please also be aware that over 80% of what a guinea pig should eat in a day is unlimited hay. Veg (10%, 50g or less) and pellets (5%, i.e. 1 tablespoon) should be seen more in the way of a daily treat. This means that you cannot judge the food intake just by eye and need to monitor it by weighing. You need to always switch from life long weekly weighing to weighing daily at the same time as soon as you have worries about the weight/food intake.

Please step in asap with support feeding. This guide here has all the information and tips on how to care for a very ill piggy; and with the kind of underweight yours is in this category! Please take the time to read it and follow the advice to keep your piggy alive until it can be vet checked and any medication can kick in:

You can't diagnose a case of bullying without making sure that there is no medical reason first. Bullying can often be a result of illness and not necessarily the cause of it.

PS: I have several piggies myself that are on the small side; but none of them are skinny. They are perfectly healthy in themselves and have the right amount of flesh on their ribs.

Hes only 6 months. And yeah they do one of them is older but really shy (that's why I got him some friends) and his actual brother is like his best friend they follow each other round every were there also in my room and they never fight.
