The wife is arguing with me, not badly just friendly, that dot is technically on day 2 on tonight's dose. But I'm sure she's on day 2 now because it's her 4th dose I just did. Tonight is 5th so tonight is day 2. 5 🤔

I think maybe she's on about day 2 tonight because of the time it takes to fight the infection. I duno, doesn't matter 😂

Anyway she's still moaning when peeing (dot) still pink stains around rear end. I noticed she not soaked but is getting a wet back end more than she ever used to

I think if she’s no better tomorrow morning I would call the vets again.

I think il give it until Wednesday morning, give her her veg , wait for her to wee and if she moans il call vet again.

I'm worried it's a bladder stone, the next step is x ray and probably a bladder flush. I've had a boar with 3 bladder stone before and he was all hunched up, not eating, really really poorly. 😕 but he was doing huge red wees and just wouldn't move, dots still normal apart from moaning

I'm noticing dots urine stinks as well lately. Like a chemical t. C. P smell. Bit like deep heat muscle spray but mild

Smelly urine is usually a sign of infection. If you can get a urine sample they can send it for culture and sensitivity to see what antibiotic the infection will respond to

Ok, the receptionist or Simon is supposed to be calling me back anytime today. I'm going to mention it. Thanks

Does make me wonder why he wouldn't have done it whilst he managed to make her pee. Or maybe he did. Oh no I would have had it on my bill. Il ask

Dot is booked in for Wednesday for an xray and bladder flush if needed, or stone op if needed and operable. Must admit I'm properly scared about this. When you have lost a boar before to stones it brings back the feeling

It’s normal for you to be worried especially if your old Boar succumbed to stones, but Simon is a brilliant vet and fingers crossed it’s just an infection x

The receptionist spoke to Kim, and Kim 5hinks the sulfatrim should have at least been showing signs of working a bit by now. But it isn't, so yea I hope it is just an infection. Thanks

Since I called the vet though and now, she hasn't squeaked half as much, so the antibiotics could be starting to work. She has just hoovered her veg up. What I want is an xray still, and hopefully nothing shows and it's just an infection, then we either change meds or stay the same.

She's having free range with bernie tonight at dusk, so I will be able to tell if she looks OK or not or squeaks alot during her and bernie most active time of day.

What I am sticking to though, from the experience of my last boar with 3 inoperable stones, if dot has the same outcome I do not want to wake her from g. A. I always said this, this way she will never have suffered for no reason in her life stall

Well I don't want to celebrate to early, but dot has made an amazing u turn in health today, this morning crying in pain, come afternoon time, stopped crying and now popcornong everywhere, and being herself. Obviously she could u turn back, so I'm calling vet tomorrow noon and might cancel the appointment, I need a vets advice for this decision. Don't want to take up another animal I needs appointment 👍

If anyone is wondering when sulfatrim kicks in, with dot it was her 4th dose, she's now had her 5th tonight. Obviously it must be different for different uti bacteria and different guinea pigs. But it's worth noting down. This is the first uti I've seen in an animal, and the first female guinea pig I've had, so this scared the life out of me for a while

Sending you hugs. I liked your post because she's seeming better - phew! I'm not surprised you have been anxious. I've had 3 boars with stones they are a nightmare I never want to go through again.

She's made a few squeals again before I have just gone to go to bed, but not half as much or as bad. Still moving in right direction 👍. Yea stones are the dreaded nightmare of guinea pigs. 😱

If I hear anymore squeals tomorrow I'm getting her xrayed for definite

I always give antibiotics three days to kick in, before worrying.

I'm in a what to do situation right now. Dot has squealed a bit today when urinating. But I Definitly feel she is improving. Sqeauls have got shorter and not as loud. But dot still lift her back end and strains and is clearly not comfortable urinating.

I want to get an xray done to find out if she has got a stone there. As the same time I don't want dot going through ga if not needed. I'm thinking go for it whilst I'm not at work and have the time to sort this
