So I have a male Guinea pig named george about 2 years old.. had him since he was a baby. About 2 months ago I adopted 2 male guinea pigs around 2 yrs old as well..came together and live in the same cage. I tried to get george and the other two to meet but no luck there was almost a lot of fighting before I stopped it. I let them all run around my room with a playpen dividing them so they can’t get to eachother. Well yesterday I had let them out and left the room for like 1 min came back and george was on the other side of the divider and they were all hissing and obviously very angry. But my one guinea pig.. snickers.. was bit a lot in the butt and was bleeding. I used peroxide to try and clean the wounds and then I made a little playpen area with blankets and supplies so he could stay there and heal for a couple days without getting his wounds infected and dirty. So just now I cleaned there cages and I decided to put Rex and snickers together in the playpen I made while I cleaned the cage.. the two that came together and lived in the same cage for there whole life. Left the room not thinking anything.. heard excessive squeaking and ran in to see what the problem was.. snickers hair was everywhere and had more bites again. I don’t know what’s going on does everyone just hate eachother now? Am I doing something wrong? Will they ever get along again? I need help!

3 boars very rarely will get along together as a trio, what you have done has caused them all to fall out and not go back together again. I've heard this scenario countless times, it's not you're fault directly as you wasn't to know, and was trying to be nice. I really don't know what you can do now, other than have 3 cages, at least 120cmx60cm each, all next door to one another. And neutering won't change a thing other than allow you to put each one with a female.

Welcome to the forum, I hope we can help you work something out 👍

Do you think it could be bc snickers is hurt and that why they are fighting?

Its just 3 boars, they will scrap, and then you try and put things back the way they were, then the original pair will scrap. You might want to get the injuries vet checked incase they get infected

No that’s not why. I am afraid it is simply not possible to keep three Male piggies together as there will always be fights. They need to be kept in pairs only. The failure rate amongst a trio of boars is 90%. Trios simply don’t work. They must be kept permanently separate from now on as more fights will occur.

What about the two that came together and lived together there whole life .. after snickers heals do you think they will still get along?

The two that have always been together (I’m assuming is rex and snickers) will hopefully still be ok together going forward. Don’t separate them from each other, leave them together. Just don’t let the third go in with them again.

Okay I’m scared to put them together bc snickers is hurt I just cleaned there cage do you think the wounds will get infected if I put her back in the cage with Rex?

You’ve just said in the post above when referring to snickers as ‘her’. Is that a slip or are Rex and snickers a Male and female?

Sorry just to clarify the situation - did Rex and snickers fight? I thought they both fought with George - that may be my mistake. If Rex and snickers have had a fight with each other, then they won’t be able to live together either anymore. As soon as piggies fight and blood is drawn then the relationship is usually over. If they did have a fight, then you may now end up with three single piggies.

Yea didn’t mean to they are all males and Rex and snickers got into a fight there was hair everywhere I wasn’t in the room while it happened and I can’t tell if there was blood because the day before george bit snickers. I can’t tell if there’s any bites that are new. Should I just try to put them together and watch them in case they start fighting I can stop it?.. they were always good together never fought that’s what’s making this so confusing.

Idk if I can ask this but do you have a phone number or something else I can talk to you on your very helpful atm.. and my phone is so slow on the internet.

Ok. Sorry I misread the post and got confused!
Unfortunately one of the problems that can occur from putting three males together is that original bonds between the original two piggies can be broken as well, hence why Rex and snickers are now fighting.
If Rex and snickers have had a fight, and it sounds like they have with hair everywhere, then it is unlikely that they will be able to remain together now.
The decision of whether to try Rex and snickers together again is up to you. It sounds like they are likely to fight again so putting them back together will be very risky. I personally wouldnt take that risk. If you are going to do it, then it would perhaps be best to give them the day/night apart to cool down And then try to reintroduce tomorrow in neutral territory (don’t ever put one piggy into another piggy’s cage as that is seen as an invasion of territory). If you do attempt a reintroduction and another fight happens, then they need to be separated and will not be able to live together again.

okay thank you so much that helped a lot but I have just one more question.. so your saying it would be a bad idea to put snickers back into the cage with Rex bc it is now claimed as Rex‘s territory? Even though that have both lived in the cage together there whole life. And thank you again this is very very helpful!

No not in this case because he has claimed it as his territory (although if you separate piggies for reasons other than a fight, then that is why they need to be reintroduced in neutral territory). It is because they have had a fight. Once piggies have a fight with each other, their bond is broken and most often they will refuse to live together any more after a fight (with further fights occurring if you attempt reintroduction - you simply can’t make piggies like each other after a fight, regardless of how long they have been together previously)
