>>TRIGGER WARNING PHOTO<<<<<

Hi
I have a 2year old Sheltie Guinea pig, she has already been diagnosed with fatty eyes, apparently as she is more “flat faced” than normal piggies.
she has recently developed the problem in the photo, it’s like extra skin popping out from behind her eye (only left at the moment), it looks different than fatty eye and looks painful for her, although she isn’t showing any signs of pain and is completely normal otherwise. Her eye is clear otherwise no hair/hay etc.
I’ve been in touch with the vets who have prescribed “isathal eye drops” to try for a week and let them know if they isn’t a change. Personally I think it may be something more permanent than a treatable issue
Does anyone know what this is? Anyone had experience with a similar issue? Any advice etc?
Thanks in advance

Hi!

I can't see any sign of a fally eye (i.e. the lower eye lid falling away from the eye and exposing the conjunctiva at the other end of the eye.

Please have your piggy vet checked for conjunctivitis or or other eye infections. This looks like a protruded gland.

Thank you, Her other eye has fatty eye and this one did before this issue has started.
I have to treat her with the Isathal eye drop for a week first, luckily my vets are piggie savy.

That is the standard treatment for eye infections or injuries. Isathal are antibiotic eye drops.

All the best!
