I have two piggys, one called mimbles and the other called pips- both girls. We rescued mimbles as she was let out and found by an old lady and when no one claimed her we kept her and bough pip to keep her company. She is a very nervous piggy despite being the dominant one of the two. They were both treated for mites this time last year- despite only mimbles losing hair and scratching not pips. Since then she chews at her legs- it never bleeds and is not red or itchy or inflamed it's just as though she's pulling her hair out. I looked today and her whole underneath fur has come out. But pips hasn't at all- which I don't think it mites as they would both have it? As they share a hutch and are very close! I have attached pictures ( the vets have told me the white spots are pigments in her skin ) thank you x

Hi and welcome! Please have her seen for ovarian cysts.

I think that would be wise, my girl, a crested pig, has some hair loss at her feet, her front paws I should say. My mother thinks its cause she's so stressed out she's been chewing them but I haven't seen her knowing at them. I'm thinking its something else could yall help me?

My mimbles knaws at her legs! Has done for the past two years I've had her. I wonder if she was mistreated before I recused her and that its caused her to be very anxious? She still runs about and eats everything in sight!

Has anything new happened to cause this? My girls has to go to a friends place while my family an I went north for a vaca. Then I hadmto watch my friends piggies. I think she might still be stressed about all that but that was earlier this summer! I only found out about her paws Monday! The inside of them have a large patch of no fur and there is a small patch, a dot really, on her tiny knuckle that's gone. I'm keeping a close eye on her in case it spreads.

BTW, I think your piggy Mingles is a really cute little darling!:)

Thank you! She is a gem, couldn't ever give her to a shelter when I rescued her. And no it's just something she has always done- over two years. She never breaks skin or hurts herself- just knaws at her legs it's really odd. She's very friendly but also very very nervous.

I would have her checked for arthritis if she is no longer young.

The thing is we don't know how old she is- when we rescued her she was still very young- the vets reckoned only about a year, so she's between 2-3 now?

My big concern now is if she has got an ovarian cyst, how much it will cost to spay her if need be- because I can't have her being in pain :(

The inside is normal mechanical abrasion from regular piggy washing and nothing to worry about.

There are alternatives to spaying these days - hormone therapy (usually chorulon), but prices depend on the vet. A vet clinic should give you a rough estimate before you commit.
Your vet has to look at things. We cannot diagnose, just give you a rough idea at what kind of ball park you are likely playing at.
