Hannah’s Herd thread!

Beautiful pictures as always Hannah 🥰
Gorgeous Oscar ….how he is growing ❤️
Lovely to see you riding 🥰
Dear sweet Emily …she was living her best life with you all which is all a piggy ever wants or needs
I always love reading about Hannah’s ark ❤️

Loving all your photos Hannah, I’m so sorry you lost Emily and the fishes. Oscar is growing fast, he’s gorgeous. Give him a hug from me 💙

As you may have seen on the rainbow bridge thread, Wren. Sleep well 🌈 We lost the lovely little Wren this week. She suddenly became unwell and I had to make the hard and quick decision to have her PTS. Poor Henry has lost his second wiflet in a year, we are very saddened. But he is doing well. Unsure whether I’ll get him a new friend, I really would like to slow down on the animal intakes..however I’d hate to see him alone for a long time. So we’ll see.

Photo of Wren before in the morning of her being ill.. (excuse my face, I had zero sleep that night and was emotionally drained )

Other than that, everyone else is doing okay. The two other boys still have their teeth issues but are doing fine with their frequent check ups/teeth trims.
I had a busy weekend just gone, cleaned out all 29 pets (28 now). Chicken coop, bird aviary, Guinea pigs and some paddock cleaning for the horses.
I’ve been trying to fit in the odd ride on my Brumby Cappa at the weekends which has felt really good to be back in the saddle.
Autumn has arrived so the mornings are nice a cool which has been pleasant and there is even some grass growing..woohoo!
The Australian hay shortage is still ongoing, costing me an absolute fortune for the horses and guineas. Good job I’m doing some evening work to pay for the animals.

Oscar is now 9 months old, he’s crawling around keeping me on my toes! He’s a great little character whom loves all the animals. He fast crawls up to the Guinea pig door to watch them which is cute. He’s been teething, I’m exhausted this week from lack of sleep. But hey ho. He has 3 bottom teeth and his two top ones are almost poking through.

But all is good and well here, everything’s ticking along.

Lovely photos Hannah
We love hearing about your life
I’m amazed beautiful Oscar is 9/12 old ❤️
I was sad to read about lovely Wren she really was a sweet girl

Hi everyone!
The drought has hit Victoria hard, we still have had almost zero rain since mid last year. The paddocks are dust and the cost of fed has tripled. Life’s hard. But we are all doing okay. The horses are still fat and happy, just a little dusty and pretending that they’re starved.. (they’re just like giant guinea pigs!).

The Guinea pig room is quiet, we lost Blossom a couple of days ago very suddenly. Now down to only 4 Guineas which is very strange. And unfortunately Lionheart isn’t doing to well with his tooth problem at them moment, his last vet visit a couple of weeks ago he was down to 740grams. Quite a sudden weight loss due to his bad tooth. I’m given him twice daily pain relief and critical care. If he hasn’t gained weight on his next visit in 2 weeks we may have to make a difficult decision. However, in saying that he’s still happy, and seems very active still. He still runs in circles at dinner time and manages to eat his veggies, I see him in the hay tray slowly munching hay and he carefully eats his pellets. I’ve actually noticed a lump on his jaw the past few days, I’m thinking it’s an abscess from the tooth.

Other than a bit of piggie problems the rest of the animals are well. I’ve been rescuing orphaned Lambs recently too. Caring for them temporarily until they go off to other carers.

Oscar will be 1 years old next month! He’s crawling and up to mischief. Still not sleeping through the night, waking many times. I’m tired constantly. Good job he’s cute.

❤️ it’s always lovely to hear your news Hannah and see your photos
Beautiful Oscar ….1 year old 🥰
I hope dear Lionheart is ok he’s faced so many battles
Once again I’m sorry that Blossom left for RB

Hello fellow piggie friends!

Sorry for the long absence, just busy with life I guess! I hope everyone and their animals are all okay?

My 3 piggies, Newton, Henry and Buttons are all happy and well. Newton is still a single man but he’s absolutely content and satisfied with his life. At 5-6 years old he’s seen many wives and happy to live without heartbreak for a while. His missing tooth doesn’t give him too much trouble which is fab!

The horses are pleased there is some green grass growing.

My aviary birds are enjoying the spring weather.

The chickens are enjoying pooping on my verandah everyday as usual. I miss my little Rosie and Roxie chickens (I never made a post about Rosie, my fav little Bantam that passed away in winter).
The chicken ‘Sparrow Hawk’ is lucky to be alive. She went missing for a night and day. I found her the next evening at the bottom a metal drum that we use to burn stuff. Covered in Ash with wheezy lungs. After a night indoors and some medication, and a week later she seems fine. Thank goodness!

Fergus the doggo is as needy as ever. He’s happy. Tolerating the little human in the house very well. I’d really like to get a second dog..I’m just working on my partner to agree..

And the little human, Oscar is now 15 month old. He’s cheeky, silly and funny. He’s not walking on his own yet but who needs to when you can crawl soooo fast? He’s STILL not sleeping well. Ongoing battle. It’s a struggle. But he’s a good little lad during the day. He absolutely loves going in the Guinea pig room and filling up the pigs hay (and making a mess).

My partner has started a new job which has been a huge change and step. Long days on my own lately while he’s training. But hopefully will work out better in the long run.

All the wild birds in the garden are full of spring, nesting and flirting. My favourite time of year.

Glad your piggies are okay despite Geoffs old age problems, doesn’t sound like he’s too worried :xd:
Cleaning your dogs teeth twice a day does not sound fun!

Gorgeous photos.
Always a pleasure to hear from you and catch up with your busy life.
Hope all continues to go well 🥰

What a lovely catch up post. Can’t believe Oscar is 15 months already. Time really does fly. So sorry that he’s not sleeping well but what a little cutie helping you with the animals. If it’s any consolation (might not be) my twins didn’t sleep through until they were about 18 months (and one was almost 2 before I got an unbroken night) but they have developed into perfectly functioning human adults without sleep disorders. And I recovered eventually 😂.

Hi Vicki! Oscar is now 18 months and still not sleeping through. He did have a small period of time a month or so ago where he slept through for a few nights or just woke up a little bit. But now he’s back to being quite bad again. It’s killing me!
Must have been SO hard with twins! I hope Oscar eventually..soon sleeps better.

Hello everyone!

Hope everyone had a nice Xmas and new year! Ours was quiet as usual, and unfortunately Newton became unwell in Xmas Eve so I spent most of Christmas worried about him. But he’s still with us and doing ok! He’s been to the vet but I’m waiting for Dr Aaron to return in a couple of weeks for a better diagnosis.
Just before Xmas my uncle in Queensland passed away which was quite a shock and very sad. He was 90. We spoke on the phone every couple of months, even though I only saw him every few years I feel even more lonely in Aus now that he has gone. And to make his passing more stressful for me and my mum, He had a pet lorikeet that we had to find a home for. Thankfully a friend of my uncles has found her a wonderful home with a vet!
It was a busy November/December as well as my uncle I’ve had a ln injured horse (she’s healed well now) and I’m worried Lucy horse has got another problem with her back legs.
Also Sparrowhawk my little chicken passed away.
But other than all that everything has been alright, same same really. Oscar is 18 months old and busy walking around everywhere, he’s very chuffed with his new shoes he got for Xmas. He always wants to go for walks in the garden. But unfortunately the heat this week (40+) means we have to stay indoors.

Oh and I ‘accidentally’ put my hand up to take on a budgie that someone had found in my local area. So I now have another bird, ideally to join my others in the aviary. But this little guy is quite tame and young so we will have to assess over the next few weeks. He’s currently indoors in the pig room. I think I’m going to call him ‘Sprite’? Any other ideas?

Hello all!
Just sitting in the garden, enjoying the Autumn sun. Oscar will wake up from his nap soon, thought I’d say a quick hello and do an update.
We’re all doing well. Though we have never ending illnesses in the house now that the toddler attends daycare twice a week.
I still have 3 Guineas, Henry and Buttons are great. Newton is still with us too, which I’m suprised as I almost had him PTS a couple of weeks ago. He seemed to not be doing well with his teeth issues and had lost so much weight and seemed depressed. Waited a few days for his appointment but by then he seemed to be eating again and moving around a lot again. So the vet and I decided we’d give him 2 more weeks and make a decision then.
Well the two week passed and Newton has been doing great! He’s being bouncing around his cage, always wheeking demanding his critical care bowl, metacam and fresh picked grass. He has me well trained. Needless to say I cancelled his appointment and we will have a check up in 4 weeks time instead.
The rest of the animals are good too. I’m currently slowly breaking in one of my horses. Binki, he’s 10 years old (yes yes I could have started him 5 years ago haha). But he’s going really well. It’s just my confidence getting in the way now.
I also saw my parents a couple of months ago, they came up after the death of my uncle to clear/sort out his house etc in Queensland. We flew up with them to help for a few days. Was lovely to see them despite the circumstances. An Oscar absolutely loved my mum. Makes it even harder saying goodbye.
They will come back to visit for a longer and happier visit as soon as they can.

Lucy lu, the queen.
