Hello All!
Just a few days ago I noticed on the left side of my pig’s nose the hair was falling out and then saw a small pea sized sore behind his left ear. Then yesterday I found 3 more sores on his chest and near his bottom. He keeps chewing at the sore on his back and is worrying me that he’s going to hurt himself! I’m a college student and can’t really pay for a vet visit, but will take him if completely necessary. I googled this and saw it could possibly be mites? Or a fungal infection? I gave him an anti fungal bath today and put athletes food cream on the sores (what others did with the same case as his). Please please help! What is this? How can I cure him? Is a vet visit needed at this point?

Stop using the athletes foot or any other home treatment and please get him seen by a vet. We don’t advise home treatment as it can mask or make worse the symptoms/whatever it is. Be extra careful with hygiene in case it is ringworm.

I notice you say you’re a college student. So does he live alone? It’s really unfair to keep him like that because they’re highly social and need constant companionship of their own kind. No amount of human interaction can replace that.

Good luck and let us know how it goes with the vet.

I will take him to the vet tomorrow, thank you! And no need to worry, he has a brother and their C&C cage takes up more room in my apartment then any of my things do! They are very spoiled piggies :)
