I have two sows and are extremely tightknit, wherever one goes, the other follows, and both of them start their little piggy expeditions! Lol. they both seem very oddly submissive, and extremely, extremely lovable to one another. When they eat they sit right beside each other and rub faces. its soooo confusing so I just assume the larger one is the top piggy? They cuddle constantly, there isn't any lying out in the open more than the other because they are ALWAYS together. They haven't bickered at all so far, and they share even food, very very well. I was feeding them some strawberry and they were both eating off of it, pausing and even waiting for the other to take some leaves. They're very young though. About 3 months and they're sisters and were bonded before I got them.

They do sound very well bonded, but perhaps haven't established a hierarchy yet as they are so young. I don't know as much about females as I have all boars, but as they mature you will probably be able to tell who's the boss. Two of my boars are very close like that, and it's only occasionally that I spot any top pig behaviour.

Hi hun, I have two baby sows like yourself. Like yours, my piggies are very tightly bonded and are almost inseparable! However, I do see tiny spots of dominance and rumble strutting but it tends to be when they have come into season. Piglet struts and Hazel submits immediately, they move on and snuggle up somewhere or go to eat together.
So, it could still be coming for your two, bubs.

When Merab died the 2 sows in the middle had a minor tussle over who was going to be top pig now.
I’m fairly sure they decided to share the role.

I can't tell who's boss with my boar and sow pair. Is there such thing as evenly matched?

I’m too wondering recently who’s top sow! I’ve always assumed Mary because she’s the biggest and everyone seems to respect her. But Opal is very bossy, mostly to little Olive. Olive tries to boss everyone about but her threats get ignored :))

Hi!

If your top piggy is not dominant by nature and the bond is very harmonious, you won't necessarily be able to tell - count yourself lucky because it simpy doesn't matter!
