So I have been asking for two Guinea Pigs for ages, and my friend is giving away her two. So we decided to take them. They are arriving in around 4 days. I ordered a load of toys online and that has arrived, the hutch is ready and built, the garden and grass is perfect and food and water and all the important stuff is taken care of. But one of my friends said he would tell me the name of a shop where good quality hay bales are being sold for £5. Since then I've not been able to contact him about it and I'm a bit stuck. I have everything I need apart from the hay, which is one of the piggies main needs! Does anybody know a farm shop in huyton? He mentioned near huyton village. I've tried looking on Google but I don't know what to find.

I can't help you on the farm front but Timothy hay is the best, all my pigs love it.You can get it in any pet shop or order online from many pet supplies sites

Thank you so much! I will stock up on that! I will look online for a big bag of it, I want to get enough to last a short while. I might have to buy two bags. But thank you again!

Id be tempted to get small amounts at first. The piggies might have a preference for hay type and you could be stuck with a giant bale they turn tneir noses up at.

I have bought my two the Timothy 5 a day hay from the range think it's £2.99 a bag and they love that, I also bought the glen..... Summat one that b&m sell for 99p they don't tend too munch on that a lot so I use it in their litter tray :D
Xx

Oh ok, thank you! I will make sure to watch them when I give them a little bit.

Thank you! That's a great price and luckily for me I have a B&M really close, about 5 min drive. Thanks again!

No problem :D
Glad I can help

Thank god you helped! I've been worrying what to get because they are here on Saturday! And I only found out they were giving them away on Tuesday. So thank you Again! ☺

I was the same, running around like a mad woman trying to get the best I could for my boys, but I'm also learning that you definitely learn what they like and dislike as you go :D I've found that the greener the hay the more they eat it, the one from b&m has slight green but the Timothy one wins hands down. I've seen that some people on here can get Timothy hay from their b&m but mine doesn't sell it.
You will have to post some pics when you get your new piggies :D

I will, I am so excited because this is my first time owning a pair of guinea pigs! But I have done my homework and researched everything I need to know. I had a pair of gerbils but one died at two years old. I still have one gerbil and I thought it would be as easy as looking after Skipper (My gerbil) but Guinea pigs are alot more expensive and demanding! I love animals though, they are so rewarding when you form a friendship. :)

Guineapigs take up more space and time than gerbals...
Well worth the time and effort i think
I love my little Chockster
I would be lost with out him
He's been here for me through some really difficult points in my life so i think that makes the bond more special...
Good luck with your new pigs...

Thank you! I love animals because of that reason, they are very therapeutic and calming when times are stressful. They also make you happy and bright too, so I'm very lucky to be getting these two piggies!

Skipper is so sweet!
I love how animals can be so rewarding! It's like having two toddlers around ours now the house is just full of hay, fleece and runs :lol!: can't get in the living room!
Love them!

Are your new pigs boys or girls? Will you be keeping their names or will you be giving them new ones?

Aw thank you! I always call him my little boy! I'm his mum :D I have just bought a big outdoor box for all the stuff I have! I love buying Skipps toys and cute things to play with, I never have any money for myself!:D

I am getting a pair of girls, right now they are called Biscuit and Poppy but I plan on changing them to something funny and cute! I still haven't thought of a good one yet :help:

I really like Chewy and Ted! That's a good idea :lol!: If I don't think of two names, I might try that!
