Hi.
I’ve been having a rough time with my remaining girl. She currently has quite a bit of fluid in her abdomen and is on furosemide to try to help expel the fluid. It’s basically to help make her comfortable. It will not fix anything but I hope to have some more time with her. I am already devastated and anxious.

Also had an ultrasound and vet said looks like there is a mass on her liver. Said that is why she is having fluid in her abdomen and is also why she’s having soft poops.

I definitely want a second opinion as I don’t think it hurts to see. I’m trying to schedule an ultrasound at another place.

However, she recommended milk thistle for a liver supplement on top of the furosemide. She is also on .15 of meloxicam every 12 hours and .2 of metoclopromide every 12 hours as well. Does anyone from the United States have any luck with it? Also where does everyone get it? I’m confused with the ingredients and don’t know what to look for. There is one on chewy for dogs and I believe it has omegas and fatty acids in it. I just need help finding the correct one to order.

I used milk thistle to support Felix when we found he had an enlarged liver. I used a liquid version that was alcohol free and sugar free.
I think this is the one I used - but I don’t know what the equivalent is in the US

This is the one I found on chewy. Not sure if the ingredients are okay.

I would say not. The omega 3 oil is salmon based.
I was given a list of ingredients to make to a liver support emulsion for him and the vet specifically said omega 3 oil should be vegetable based so the one you’ve seen is not suitable

It really just makes me so sad. She sits so puffy and is clearly uncomfortable. I’m hoping the furosemide starts to help her. It’s clear you can see her sides swollen from the fluids.

She still squeaks and begs and eats and drinks so she still has personality to her. I feel so sad

She seems to be in so much pain when just sitting. She is so puffy and hunched. She still has life and personality to her. I just gave her some more furosemide since I can give it every 8-12 hours. Hoping that starts to help her. It’s clear she does not feel good.

She is still eating hay and Critical care and drinking.

I was told I needed a milk thistle with the active ingredient s-adenosylmethione but I can’t find it except with other ingredients that aren’t safe for her.

I think I am going to order the one you had gotten for Felix even though it doesn’t have that active ingredient.

It was a long time ago, I think it was the same one ( or the same but a different brand) to the one @VickiA mentions. I think I got from Holland&Barrett (healthfood store)
Not sure if your vet had recommended it but did they say it needed the active ingredient s-adenosylmethione in it? I was going to give the one Vicki had posted on there but it doesn’t have that ingredient.

What was the dosage like for your piggy you gave it to?

I’m sorry for asking so many questions! I do know the one Vicki posted has vegetable glycerin in it so I’m assuming it’s okay for them but just want to be sure. I don’t want to give her anything that could potentially be bad for her
