All 3 of my boys had a uri so vets prescribed them antibiotics. Buttons and ripple cleared up fine after the first week but rolo still had a snotty nose and sneezing all the time so he had antibiotics for another week. That course has finished but he is just the same as before still snotty etc. I'm going to ring the vets this morning but does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going!?

He seems fine and happy but I know they are good at hiding illnesses...

Please help.

Hi!

Please consider with your vet whether the antibiotic is not the right one or whether the snotty nose is caused by an environmental factor:
- what bedding are you using? Consider switching to a non-wood based one.
- hay dust. Try another dust extracted brand; they are not all the same quality
- pollen
- air conditioning or running radiators units too close to the cage
- air fresheners, perfumes and human toiletting products; smoking and scent sticks

Thank you both!

Vet has switched him to a different antibiotic which I am picking up tomorrow. She also suggested I try fleece bedding so I have been to buy some fleece after work.

She told me to split them up but I feel like that's the wrong thing to Do?
So now I'm stressing about them not being together.

Separating them will only cause them more stress. If your other boys have made a recovery then they are unlikely to catch it again. I’d keep them together
Wishing you all the best for your poorly boy x

Please choose microfleece, polar or anti-pil fleece or opt for vetbed bedding. Follow the advice in our guide as you need to prepare it with pre-washing as you need to remove any softener that seals the surface. You also need to get some absorbent underlay, like puppy pads or cotton towels.
