Pebble is off to the vets

So sorry to hear Pebble is unwell - sending our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery x

Pebble has lost 50g overnight despite getting 80ml of syringe feed yesterday 🤦🏻‍♀️

Also he was “shivering/vibrating” on my lap this morning. It’s not that cold and his ears were warm so I don’t think he’s cold. He’s on 0.5ml pain meds twice a day so hopefully not in pain?

Also his stomach was gurgling loudly today which it hasn’t done before. I had just given him his morning feed so hopefully it was just an empty stomach from not eating in the night. 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I’m getting a bit stressed. Trying to keep calm. Telling myself I’m doing all I can until his dental on Friday.

Don't think about it in hours but in days - 24 hour feeding periods where you want to average out. Unless a piggy is totally off food, struggling to take on 5 ml in one go and fighting for their life, piggies can cope with feeding gaps during the day and night.

I hope that looking at it this way helps to keep your stress levels under control.
That’s so good to know - hope you are doing ok x

Oh crikey I’ve been there ! As you know from the support you’ve gifted me. Every day drags whilst you are waiting - we waited from the Wednesday (nye) until Monday and every morning a bit more weight gone despite my best efforts. I went through complete anxiety but this lovely group calmed me down and kept me focused on the positives x keep strong and I’m keeping everything crossed xx

Thank you ❤️

I'm sorry he's dropping weight despite your efforts with the syringe. It is very stressful when they get like this, trying to get them to just eat! Grass is usually a good go to and we don't even have that to fall back on at the moment, mine is under a thick layer of frost.

Thanks everyone. He’s perked up a bit since this morning. I think the pain meds had worn off. He’s had another feed. It wasn’t a planned feed. I just offered him the syringe when he was sat in the fresh hay pile. He really wants to eat. Bless him. ❤️

Sending my vibes to you and Pebble.

It is so hard because it is never a smooth time but lots of little ups and downs. You hope against hope but you do not dare to hope too much, and any little deterioration is yet another step down...

Hang on in there, bless every day he is still around and has some appetite and live in the moment as much as you can.

How is pebbly today
Hi @Ramia. I got up at 4am (thanks to Chester) so I gave him an early morning feed. He did very well. I saw him eat a green bean slowly this morning and he’s had some banana today too. He seems happier today. Not himself but better than the last few days. He only lost a tiny bit of weight last night too. So it’s going ok. Thanks. ☺️

So it’s just after 1 am. I’ve slept on the sofa so I can do a night feed for Pebble. When I get back into the living room some dog has stolen my bed! He looks so comfy I don’t want to move him 😍
