Piggy too stressed for nail trim

My piggy Bear was diagnosed with lymphoma a month ago. He hadn’t had his nails trimmed since last month, so i tried to trim them. Made it as stress free as possible. Lettuce, talking to him quietly, petting, supporting his body so his swollen areas wouldn’t be touched. He still got stressed out, shivering and making annoyed noises. I couldn’t even get one nail. I’m having anxiety about this because i know he needs his nails trimmed but he will not let me do it and i don’t want to stress him out so much that something bad happens. Just not sure what to do. The same thing also happened with a butt bath because he peed all over himself. Seemed like he couldn’t handle it. I only hold him horizontally so his body is supported by my arm, and his swollen areas aren’t touched. He does let me give him his medicine when i hold him like that thankfully. I’m afraid now to give him his medicine tonight because i have to pick him up again

Oh I’m so sad to read this - do you think he could be in pain ? is he on any pain medication ?
Would it be easier if someone could hold him and you do one foot every day ?
It’s very difficult and I really understand about not wanting to stress him out

i don’t think he’s in pain, he’s on prednisone and seems to be okay until i try to do things like bathe him and trim his nails. Basically he wants to just be in his home constantly. I tried to get my brother to hold him while i get one foot, but he wouldn’t even let me get one nail
If i do see he is in pain, Saskia from LA guinea pig rescue put on some CBD cream for him, if it’s safe with his prednisone maybe i can get some

So sorry that you are going through this with your piggy.
Under the circumstances I would leave nail trimming unless they are curling under the paw and adding to his discomfort.

thank you ♡ was thinking maybe to try again in a couple days. something tells me though no matter what method i try he won’t let it happen because of the swollen areas

Yes they do, i’m just afraid he will be stressed as well if i take him to the vet. He seems very sensitive right now and little things like that stress him out so much. Maybe i will take him

update i was able to finally clip his nails by propping the front paws up on a neck pillow. Was able to do the back ones too yay
